    Friends,

Is there a good source for single barrel carburator adapters to move between the earlier 1 1/2" Stronberg throat to the later wider manifolds? I appreciate any help that could be provided.

Speedway Motors makes a couple they say go the other way (one barrel to 97/94 pattern). I would think any clever Hot Rodder could figure out how to run one upside down.

Are you talking about one barrel carburetors?

20250215_130330.jpg Yes, Single barrel carbs, just like the title says.

In this case these restored older Strombergs with 1 1/2" id throat to the later Thickstun Dodge dual manifold with the slightly larger 1.65"

Thanks for the help, didnt see an offering on the Speedway Motors site.

Sorry. When I see Thickstun, I think flathead Ford unless specified otherwise.

When I went from a larger based carburetor to the smaller Carter W-1, I used some Garolite sheet material from McMaster Carr ( Bakelite ) and an offset stud I made. I used one of the original holes, cut the Bakelite to match the Carter base and bolt spacing, then put the offset stud in the other hole. The Bakelite had one elongated hole for the offset stud. I simply welded one stud to the other with the correct offset. The Bakelite is 3/8" think and has held up for years with no issues. I radiused the lower hole diameter of the spacer to blend into the larger bore of the intake. It you used a much thicker Bakelite, you could make a really nice blend area, my 3/8" only allowed for a small radius. For the offset stud, I used two bolts with the heads cut off. With an offset stud, I didn't need to change the manifold spacing or elongate the holes in the carburetors.

I make several sizes of Winfield to 2 bolt adapters, and have made 2 bolt to 2 bolt adapters too. Some setups need the additional height, while others are better off with a flat plate style. Minimum height for this “drop flange” style is about 1-3/8”, but could be shorter if the flanges are not inline.

In this case I would just weld up the holes and drill and tap the new holes...I'm putting 2 hi-performance jeep carbs on all my bangers... so I was in the w1 to holley stromberg mode...that and I'm not familiar with the mount size of a stromberg 1 barrel, or even which one is being used

Yeah, but I had a good reason since he didn't specify the make of car he has.

    What's yours?
