Everybody and his dog keeps telling me that a '32 is THE hot rod too have!

Wait a minut, a what. Lol
But that looks good, with 5 windows and suiside doors.

That is a beautiful body, and I'm looking forward to seeing a nice rod build around the stuff you have, but please keep it unique don't run ford axels and SBC.

But rather run a Fabulous Hudson Hornet mill, 3 or 4 speed and a good (gearing) rear end. And 4 springs. That would be a nice little rod.

Maybe Chevy AD axels and springs will fit? They should be more available, and hydraulic brakes.

A 308 straight six flathead 7-X twin-H setup would be the hot setup.

Did Hudson make a straight 8?
That Twin-H would look good, though.

My point exactly, hence the answer to your original question, and some insight into my sense of humour.

Not what I would choose to do with it, but that doesn't matter. However you decide to build it, do it 100%, don't half-ass it, and it will look good. ;)

  12. ....I got an oddball 32 also, a DeSoto coupe,...probly should sell it as way too many projects now...if I built it I was gonna run a 318/t-flite, fenderless with a full hood.
Lots of 1932 autos look as good as Fords in my opinion, good luck on your Hudson.

Absolutely, I don't remember seeing a 32 of any brand that didn't look good, especially if it is a 3 window coupe, and I think a 32 Rockne in stock form looks better than a Ford.

I have a buddy who has a Desoto 5W coupe sitting around on his farm, but I can't recall what year it is. Maybe a '31? One of these days, I'm going to talk him into selling it to me. One of these days..

Anyways, your 3W is pretty cool!

I don't know if I could ever find the sheet metal I am missing. These Hudson are really nice looking cars with all the fenders and stuff

I think that car will make an awesome rod for sure

  17. Very cool coupe....if it came with the fenders and hood, etc, I'd have to do a semi-resto rod but damn! It's only the body with doors and decklid. I'd have to do it as a hotrod with a 55-56 Hudson [Packard] v/8, 4 speed and a quick change. Keep the parallel leaf front and go with a dropped 50s-60s pickup front axle. I suppose I'd go with a deuce radiator shell as the original Hudson would be hard to find and its' kinda clunky and big..I'd HAVE to use those Hudson tirangle headlights!!!!.
What? Nobody asked me how I'd do it? Ooops.......
    nevermind.

Steve, nice car. I am stoked. I can't start right away on it but I will build something cool. Do you have any extra parts? I am looking for a windshield frame.

  19. A 33-34 Dodge radiator shell would look good on that body style.

Wldtrout I do not have any extra parts really. I do not have a windshield frame. I am just going to glue my windshield in.

  21. I have a 34 super 8 four dr. it's getting a 318/904 combo resto rod build

I sold the 53 Hudson Jet setup that came with my coupe to another Hudson owner. 3 speed stick with OD = 6 speed gear box.

Interesting even six years later. That opening on the tailpan looks stock so I presume a gas filler door? I would try to reverse the lower firewall though.

Yes that is a gas filler door opening . I just filled in the opening on mine. The lower part of my body did not have the firewall. I used a 40 's something ford fire wall in mine.

Hudsons did come with an OHV V8, in the last 3 years they were made, 1955 - 56 -57. They used a 320 cu in version of the Packard V8 and in 57, the AMC 327 V8. So if you want a "Hudson" V8 those are related by marriage.
