I haven't posted much in the last year or so. I've been crazy busy with work, lots of traveling, and trying to have a little bit of a life. The flathead for my roadster (see my avatar) is going together right now. In the mean time I thought I'd build a new chassis for my sedan. There's nothing really worng with the frame under the car right now. It's been on the road for going on five years. But it was my first hot rod chassis and I think I can do better now. The list of improvements are as follows: Upgraded from 2X3" to 2X4" .125 wall steel tubing. Swept the front end instead of Z'ing. Tapered the bottom of the rails to meet the cross member. Shortened the wheelbase from 115" to 107" Better design on the center section for added torsional rigidity. Switching to buggy spring behind the axle and ladder bars from coilovers and a home made wishbone style suspension. Also going to Vega cross steer instead of reversed Corvair. Also switching to a more stock style front end with split bones and an I beam axle with the tie rod in the correct location. No more suicide setup. The rear kickups have been shortened to a foot versus 17" on my current chassis to actually give it a rake. The super low pool table flat look was what I liked when I built the car. But I'd like to give it a more traditional look now. I'm also going to give it my best shot running all six of those 94's on that X-1. We'll see...
