A couple of weeks ago I replaced the stocke tires and wheels on my Model A with 7.50 x 16s on the rear and now I've got a broken tooth on 2nd gear. Is this just a coincidence or should I be worried about running these larger tires. With 6.00s in the front, I love the stance.
Also, anyone have a transmission or a cluster gear ***y they'd like to get rid of?
    Thanks in advance

I have an ***ortment of nos Ford 3 speed ****** cluster gears plus some 1st and 2nd gears. You need to pin down the exact cluster you have. All-helical cut gears or the earlier cluster with two helical & two straight cut gears?

Count the first gear (closest to the front) teeth and count 'em carefully (twice or three times to be sure). They are made in 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29 tooth versions.

Does the back face of the cluster have two small protruding "dogs" or is it flat with a couple notches cut into the flat face?

The gears don't have the part number placed on them as Ford often did, so ID'ing the cluster is important.

The gears I have are either clean (with a coating of cosmoline) or shop worn with a light coat of surface rust. The nice cosmo'd cluster gears are $150 and the slightly rusted ones are $100.00. Let me know what you need and I'll see if I have it.

One other thought after re-reading your post. If you have a Model A ******, it will have all straight cut gears. I have some of those too. Tooth count may be different than the later 1932-48 gears, but the count is still important.

The transmission that broke is a stock Model A. Up until now, it seemed to work fine. It actually still works, but makes a lot of noise in 2nd gear. Since it's only one gear thats noisy, I figured that it's the cluster gear that lost a tooth. Is this correct?????

I checked all the Model A catalogs and they only list one part number for the cluster gear ***y. for all four years, but at $175, it seems kind of pricey. Seems like a guy should be able to pick up several servicable transmissions for that price.
