Guys.....If it's not REAL, I'd be floored with disbelief!

Maybe it's been assembled from several sources of vintage parts, but everything there appears to be 100% true "survivor" vintage stuff. I can't imagine anyone going to that much trouble to fake it. Especially not the older gentleman that was the owner.

Pretty Cool. I Wonder If It Is Really Survivor Or If Someone Just Built It To Look That Way... Something Just Doest Look Rigtha About Those Heads.

It takes over $50,000 just in parts to put together a REALLY NICE '32 using new parts. If that thing could be documented as being real 200k would be more like the going rate.
Before jumping me notice I typed REALLY NICE.
The one thing that jumps out at me is the E & J headlights, I don't remember them being used on what appears to be a "performance", fendered, hot rod. Could be wrong.

I don't like the 2 tone paint job even if it was done in 1952. I think any 1950s hot rodder worth his salt would have a coat of primer on it before it ever hit the street. Some very cool parts on a very cool car.

The paint job makes me think it was done by someone born near the turn of the 20th century that was trying to make a cheap Ford look like a classy Deusenberg instead of a young 1950s hot rodder trying to make it a go fast hot rod. It would be a tough decision. You only have one chance at real patina. After is gone...it's gone forever.

Something tells me the lucky owner probably has a barn full of classic hot rod parts to select from.

    Yeah I'm jealous!:D

Grimlock, errr Kevin Lee said it best for me. Sorry if I instilled some sort of doubt in this thread about this car. It is neat as hell, just seemed over the top to be a "Barn Find". As for E&J's I love them on the right car. Such as "Savage" Aaron Von Minden's "A" coupe.

Once again I dont think the car is faked at all just seemed too much "goods stuff" to be a barn find as is. As for the Arduns, I can't see the water outlet that well in the pics thats why I brought it up. There were the two types out the top center of the head, and out the front. Those out the front look too low and towards the center of the engine. But that is obviously just the angle of the photo as everyone has attested to. Be very interesting to hear the whole story on it. Cool car real or not. I'm leaning towards real with some after the fact updates.

$60k? Ha LOL good one. I'm more inclined to put it $100-120K to the right buyer.

I agree with "tommy". I think (if it's a real survivor) we're looking at an early custom. The lights would work on the custom sceme.

The Ardun may not be the engine powering that car when it was running around with a new "Duzy" paint job. Kinda got a "raccoon coat" feel to it.

    1) I do NOT claim to know much about ARDUNS ...
    2) I do not know a lot about 32 Ford 3W coupes ;)
    3) I do not know all that much about the value of 32 Fords ...

    I do know that
    I LOVE this coupe ...
    :D

Fake or not ... I love it ...
I would change only two things ...

The title to my name :)
and the headlights ... a good set of originals would really help the LOOK
    IMHO

    .

  12. I like them too but..........I think they look out of place on this car.
Definitely wouldn't stop me from driving the hell out of it, if given the chance.

I like this coupe! I think the 2-tone paint works. It seems that it may have been all black at one time, then the lower half painted yellow with the belt-line kept or painted black. I like the E&J's, just needs the hood put on to give it a sleek look. Again this style of 2-tone paint job really looks awesome, as Black, Black, etc. is a proven choice. Just nice to see something different.

Nobody knows the scoop on this 3W? I'd love to know where its been, and if its always looked like this.

i didnt speak with the owner, but from what i understand it was a barn fresh stocker with recent upgrade to vintage hotrod. the interior was new, suspension appeared recently worked on with what looked like f-6 brakes etc...imm sure some guys from CSRA know him. very cool ride.

So...assemblage from several barns and finds...much more believable...As-is findseems pretty unlikely. The lights would have been "Outsider", at least, but not impossible. The Ardun was not only expensive, but really required a complete overhaul by a good machinist and fabricated maniifold right out of the box, factors making it an unlikely choice in anything but a thoroughly built car. Barns must be higher quality up there than here!

ARDUNs had 4 exhaust outlets, not the usual 3 as on a stock flathead where the two center exhaust ports are siamesed.....

Got the story second hand but was told it was two differnt finds, the running gear out of an old drag car. Car is relly cool any way you look at it. I was told they just got it together before the show, hadn't even got it running yet, although the carbs were leakin' so I guess they'd been trying.

Why would someone stash away a hot rod like that for so long and not bring it out until now? I know there are still barn finds out there but this one is waaaaay too much of a good thing. Don't get me wrong I love the car, as does anyone reading the thread I'm sure, but it does seem too good to be true about it being a true barnfind (at least with everything it is equipped with).

Almost like someone put it on ice in the 50's and just thawed it out now, why would that same person not want to keep it out and drive the hell out of it???

.......I guess it's possible because they put Ted Williams on ice, just wish they would have done it back in his prime. :)

Well that makes it much more cool really. My hat is off to the guy for finding a barn fresh stocker and straight up hot rodding it without doing something silly. Like totally gutting it just to use as a container for a bunch of poorly engineered square tubing and a half rack.

I was fence sitting on the Ardun + fenders. It didn't make sense but I have seen a few fendered cars with Ardun power so big deal. It's his car and it's nice he's not trying to pass it off as something it isn't.

I wish I had taken the time to get some more pictures, and chat with the owner....but the giant swap meet beckoned to me, and off I went in search of whatever it is that strikes my fancy.

I did find a vendor with a nice 50's Cadillac hooded air cleaner, but he wanted $400 for it...without the base plate. Are they worth that kind of money?

400.00 is way too much for the top base. I would say 100.00-125.00 tops. I paid 20.00 for my top base, but I was blessed cause everyone left the auction and there were only about 5 people left:D
