ok guys, it has come time to start setting up my front suspention in my rod and i want to get some ideas. i have a 39 axle and i wanna see how some of you guys have installed them on your rods.

i kinda just wanna know if is worth the h***el of it or should i just get a "a" style dropped axle. i want to run the spring on top of the axle like a model a. not behind or infront. i found that posies sells a spring that will alows you to do it. it is 33 1/2" eye to eye. is there a stock spring i can use??? i have one off the 39 and its way too long. can i use a stock model a and take a few leaves out??? not sure let me know. any info is great.

The deal is this. Buy the Posie's custom spring and perches and your problem is solved.

There is no stock Ford spring that will do the job as is. You would have to have the main leaf shortened and re-rolled as well as shortening other leaves, etc. etc.
Better to go with new stuff and don't worry about it.

  4. I JUST Posted this to another question, much the same as yours...however, mine is in a '32 frame

I used a '40 dropped axle front end on my '32, with a Posie's spring. I added 3 extra leaves to it, from the '40 spring, because it was going to have a LOT of extra weight on it (blown Hemi). I also used the "bent" '40 wishbones, and split them. The wheels turn all the way past where the bump stops would have been. I cut/trimmed the "spring forward" spring perches off and went to "spring over" perches. With no engine installed, it sat a little bit high, but with the engine in it sits right where it needs to be. With the '40 spring in, it sat WAY too high...
