What a day, went to have a look see about a 29 roadster for sale today, full fendered, with a suposedly newly overhauled engine and trans, You know how that one goes...Well it did start right up, using the little quart can of gas to feed the leaking bldly carb. "No I don't think so". It was good, but not good enough with me to part with some coins. So the fellow, shows me his 55 Crown Vic, I'll take it...No wait a minute. He shows me his 31 Vicky, I'll take it...No, wait a minute. He shows me is 34 3 window coupe I'll take it. No, wait a minute. He showes me a 36 Chevy Sedan that was under wraps I'll take it. No, wait a minute. Then a 40 Chevy coupe under wraps. I'll take it. No wait a minute. Then a 56 Caddy Coupe I'll take it, No wait a minute a 61 Pontiac Bonny convert with the tri power set up. I'll take it..No wait a minute. Or how about a Porshe 911T, or a 280ZX, or a 55 Pontiac 2 dr ht, or a 57 Merc 2 dr ht. another 55 Ford 2 dr sedan, 55 Ford Convert, 47 Chevy Fleetline, What else? There was lots more. One man shouldn't have all of these, so I'll go back later and see if I can help relieve this poor soul of some of his burden. Most all of this stuff was premo. Most all of it... especially the good cars were all in a two large buildings, covered, and I mean covered with dust and dirt. But they were plenty shiny under all that dirt, and those that he had under the wraps. OH, my. The stuff is out there, just got to root it out. Oh, and p***ed by a FIELD of DREAMS on the way to his place, I mean acres, and acres of cars and trucks. This was a real hide a way, down dirt and gravel roads. From what I could see from the road, they were from the mid 50's back. When I asked about them, from the fellow I went to see about the roadster, he knew of the field, but said they guy is hard to deal with. Thinks they're worth gold. But half of the treasure hunt is knowing where to dig.
Someone teach this old coot how to post pictures here. Yes I did take pictures. And my choice would be....................the 56 Caddy!!!! or the 61 Bonny Convert!!! or the...... For ten bucks I'll sell you a treasure map....HEHEHE It's in the middle of Nebraska
The check is in the mail!!! wait..... uhhhh....... dont think the post office will deliver to: Hellraiser Nebraska, USA will they?????
Give the man a cigar!!! No Harold wasn't there at the moment, something about he had an appointment with eternity. Maybe I'll see him later!!! Correct town for where the guy with the roadster was, and all the other stuff he has. Go on the southside of the street and two blocks east. Thats one of the buildings, and some of the cars outside. The other building was on the west side of town. The field of dreams is about 3 miles east and 6 miles north Also forgot to mention one, and folks that one has me stumped. It was a Kaiser Frazier, something or other. looked like a sports model, convertable, and had the cutest little flattie V8 in it. For someone who may know it was a Model 514 Body 4 paint 370 trim 4439 dr 1 what ever that means, and 247-755 on another tag just above it was Kaiser Fraiser Body 5144 - 33867. That ****er is just begging to become a one of a kind custom. the best part was, the windshield is intact, no cracks.
Nope, wasn't that one, I sent some pics to Aumotive Stud, maybe he will post them for me. He wanted pics... Car's I know a little about, this $#%$^$ machine not much
Funny you should mention dreams about "fields of cars" . From the age of 9 till I was 36 & came to Las Vegas I have lived in N.Dakota, S.Dakota, Kansas , Missouri, Arizona,Utah, New Mexico , California, & Wyoming. In all of those places I crawled thru & over MANY junk yards & fields of cars. Now the Strange part is that I have some vague recollections of a couple or 3 yards that really had some great stuff in them, but I CANNOT place where they were . I have very solid memories of Many yards --it's just these two or three that baffle me, I can close my eyes & see every car & the terrain --, buildings---everything but can't put a place to it. I have about decided that I must have had Dreams about them & the dreams were so REAL & So great that they stuck with me all this time, to the point that they don't seem like a dream but a real memory.
Here's the pics for Hellraiser. The Kaiser is actually a Henry J with the roof whacked off. Looks like a nice job though. I dig the windshield.
