That's not nearly as fat fendered and flowing as the concept posted. Great looking car though

I got to check out the Efigy during a tour of the G.M. Design Center. That's a really cool car, it would be neat to see it produced, but I doubt it would sell well, most people barely glanced at it during the tour. I think the closest match to the body of the Efigy would be a '49-'51 Chevy.

To get where you want to be on this car, no stock car is going to mod to that. Not very well.

You'd be best off to design the thing in three view drawings, and like a boat hull, loft them out to a buck. You need to decide if you want it in fibergl***, aluminum or steel. In fibergl***, you could make a buck, and pull a female mold off it, or you could do it like a rutan homebuilt airplane-gl*** over foam-then eviscerate the foam.

Decide on the ride height, the wheelbase and track, and what wheels and tires you want to end up with. Then find a frame that can be made to work or go the tube frame route.

I found a book on a guy that makes model cars named Gerald Wingrove to be very informative. He explains why things like VW ch***is rebodied to look like other things look like ****, though not in those words. I would look at his books in the library, many have them or can get them on interlibrary loan. What ou are doing is building a model car....just a big model car.

This is, I don't have to say, a hell of a lot of work. But then when you were done you could sell a kit if you were so inclined.

I agree B. I was saying '40s GM...but after watching a couple videos about the Holden Efijy, I can see that the lines are closer to the '49 through '51 Chevy...but with the '40s style front fenders into the doors.

So the car was never actually produced. I'll be darned...I ***umed it was. No wonder I haven't ever seen any running around. In that case, I guess it might be pretty hard to buy one!

    31Vicky.

Do some research on Joe Bailon's "Miss Elegance" 41 Chevy, seems like the look you are going for.

Call me simple but why not start with an FJ Holden...which is what Efigy is based on.
Do a google search for Colin Townsend's FJ from the early 90s.

Sounds at first like that would make sense. But the original and the Efijy have nearly nothing in common as far as body shape goes. An early GM is actually closer I think. Also, the OP said he'd rather try to avoid all the mods necessary to make it a hardtop.

  14. From what i remember the Efijy as it is correctly spelt, was loosely based on a FX / FJ Holden, which in turn are based loosely on a 49 - 51 Chevy as all the Holden designs are similar albeit smaller than the American counterparts.
