I was here as texrabbit before, but seems that he doesn't exsist anymore so I am back as PapaG. This is the name I use most places now so it will make me not have to remember a differnt user name. I am 50+ years old. Wife whom I still love. 2 kids, My son the oldest is a parts man at Jeep-Dodge dealer and my daughter my youngest is 23 and in her last year at Texas A&M. I have had a lot of cars over the years, from a 56 ford 2 door, no front bumper, flat black, Fenton ****fer. A 58 Ford 2 dr HT with a 332 interceprtor and Fenton shifter. I was just too hard on the Ford 3 on the tree shifters. A couple of early 50's chevy trucks. One which I put a 60 Pontiac 389 and hydromatic ****** in before there were anything "kits" made. 39 Chevy Coupe with a 283, powerslide, 57 chev rearend nova drive shaft and 54 chevy IFS, no kits either. Ford pwr bucket seats. White interior.. which I will never do again.... 64 SS Imp with a 409, single 4 bbl. Cragar SS wheels. 65 Tempest with a 389 40+ 421 HO heads, carb and intake. 4 sp m21 and rally II wheels. My Father-in-law liked messing with old cars, and we went through several Model A's, a 57 Chev, 49 Ford 4dr w Flathead v8 and whatever he could find cheap, have me work on for free and he would make some money. I guess I really married into the family. My current project is a 56 F 100 pickup thats just a rolling shell with a few ideas in my head... I was a line mechanic for Pontiac-GMC dealers for almost 20 years. I have done oil field rigging of trucks, trailers and most any thing with a engine in the 80's just to eat. Worked as a machnist doing heads mostly, but did the whole thing except turn cranks. Did hi-po engine work for several years doing more head work, engine balancing and engine builds, till most of that stuff died off in South Texas and I had to find something else to feed the family... I do computer stuff now and it pays the bills, so I guess I will do that till something else goes to **** and I have to jump to ??? Enough for now. Richard PapaG Green New Ulm, TX Where I can have all the old cars in the yard I want and make any red neck jealous.
Thanks all for the welcome. I was actually thinking of a Ford 300 6cyl with a 3sp overdrive ******. I don't really want a lot of extra stuff on it. It has some 60's mag wheels, but I may go back to some steel wheels. I am not sure on the grill. I may try to see what I can find. Someone put a very small "dune buggy" wheel on it, so I need to get a differnt one.
