Well, I spent the last three weeks in Germany and I went to a drag race in Finsterwalde, Germany earlier this month. It's about 90 miles out side of Berlin.
I was impressed with the cars and the whole event. Here's some pic's.

Check out this little four banger. I didn't get any pictures of it going down the dragstrip, but it did go and it was pretty quick

There was even a car there that I built earlier this year. It belongs to a guy in Berlin.

When I was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany in the 60's we would go over to Ramstine Air Base to the drag races. I remember a '65 Olds 442 called the "Bounty Hunter" and also a couple Shelby Mustangs, plus other cool old cars from as far away as Sweden and France. Unfortunately my ex-wife has those pictures!!!

The whole thing was held at a old Russian military air port, that was left over from the cold war days. How Ironic, a Russian military airport being used for dragracing. Pictures from the hangar, where they used to park the MIG's

Some more pictures, the blue '38 Chevy belongs to my good friend "Bud", that's him in the picture with my wife. There were a lot very nice cars there and a lot of very nice bikes, if any body wants to see them let me know. I'll post them later.

  10. Is this a '34 - '35 Studebaker or a European make?

Very kool...Man, if they were in black & white you couldnt tell me they were from back in the day!

  12. Man, that is a good time. I have over 200 pics of years past. I've been meaning to share, but never wanted to downsize the pics for the old Hamb. Now I could get em up. The guy in the black roadster in the 1st pics.... he is the guy that builds all the Flatties in Germany, and alot of Europe.

I should win an award for these girl pics, hahahaa. This was the only cheezy car there. I'll try and drop more on this tread, I gotta get to work!

It's a 1934 Graham coupe and it's a Detroit car, it was the only complete one of it's type left when I got it last year. There are only three drivable ones of it's type in the world. One is in Denmark, kind of a street rod ant the other is in Australia, this one is fairly stock but it has a V-6 out of a ford in it.

Hiya Johnny, cool pics!! Looks like if you, your wife and your best friend "Bud" (nice guy :) ) are in the rockin' scene....I'm as well....more rockabilly than hot rodder (can't repair or even build cars just "love" them). CU, K.

That is really cool, racing on an old WWII base in Europe!

Anyone here know how many old strips are still active on ex-military strips in the U.S.? I know the old Ramona Airport was the site of San Diego Raceway, but now it is strictly a civi and firebase airport. Originally a trainig field.

Thanks for the Pics Johnny, looks like it was a blast of a good time!
