like a friend of mine once said,"you can't beat factory parts". also, years ago,we found a way to fit the older shifters, hurst, etc.they were much better

    instructions? huh?....lol

i got the lokar on my 55 on top of a c4. i got sick of the column shifter and un sure shifts, it was a nice postive shift right where i wanted it down the line, with all the flex from mounts and frame that sometimes happen it was the solution. the few miles i got on it last year, was impressed myself and a nice little bell and whistle for my effie.

Myself... I am a very firm believer of the "3 pedal rule of thumb" as well haha!! All my rides have a manual as well, but a fair number of my friends have Lokar shifters in their stuff and when i have ridden with them I have never seen any problems with it nor heard any rattling either, so I would say if set up correctly then there is no issues. From what i have seen Lokar is top notch and sells good quality items.

I knew id hear from the 3 pedal purists. The tranny was pretty much given to me, rebuilt. Hard to pass that up, free parts is free parts. thats why it got used. NEvermind the tranny i used is 35+ years old.

How many of you "purists" are running around with t5 overdrives in your rides.

Well i was brought up drivin my dads Model A Roadster hiboy and it had an early 60s chev 3 spd manual in it, currently upgraded to a late 60's 3 spd thats fully synchronized. My 53 Pontiac i built runs a 65 Chev Cop car 3 spd manual "3 in da tree" and my current project has a T5 in it now, but its gonna have a nasty motor in it with a pile of gear and i still wanna drive it, so this will help make that possible, and stick to havin 3 pedals, being as it handled an 11 sec race car before.

  11. YES!............I had one in my car and loved it, the "racer" type ratchet action can't be beat! I have artificial parts in my clutch leg and it is too undependable to do clutches. Having said that, I have shift kits in my cars and love to manually shift them with the glasspaks "talking". Can't beat that ratchet mechanism for feeling like a manual. Have thought of seeing if one could be modified to take a more traditional looking shift stick for my '53.:D

  12. So to be a real hot rodder I gotta have two good legs?

Sorry I just couldn't resist. My truck actually still has 3 peddles, with the Hurst shifter it looks like a floor shift conversion. But I didn't do it for that hot rod thing, just too lazy to pull the clutch peddle.
