Looking better everyday. Seems to be coming together pretty fast. The shopped top is probably pretty easy after a few cars.:D

I bet your dad is happy seeing you get those 2dr parts off. That means there is one less car in the barn or just one more space to fill up with another one. lol.:D

Holy Shit! I was admiring the roof so much I never noticed the welded doors. That came as a shock. That is the first car I ever drove.(before):D You did make a silk purse out of a sows ear. My compliments.

    Looks great Sam. As always...

Deep bloody maroon over gold flake... With a gold flake top?

Or something closer to "STOCK" Ha, Ha, Ha... ;)

I never thought I'd EVER even think this, but that might even look kinda cool with a continental kit...

Sam, You've got to stop doing this..................at least long enough to really finish one of these and get to drive it. You must have been a good baseball player "cause you're batting close to 1.000 with this custom car thing.:D

DAMN! Boy that looks sweet. I do agree, 1 inch lower in the rear and that thing will be sex on wheels. Just put air shocks in it and youll be fine like that.

It has the perfect profile. Mod, but not radical. And the metal workmanship is top notch.

Can I ask a technical question?

When you added the rear quarter section, where did you tie it into the roof? And if you would have had access to the whole roof from the 2 door car, would you have used it, or would you still have done it with just the quarter section? Let's assume you weren't going to chop it.

I ask because I have a '57 Chevy I'm going to do and the plan was to use the whole roof but now I'm wondering if doing it this way makes more sense. With the '60 Plymouth the quarter piece fit right in but the 57 would require more cutting to do it that way, to eliminate the 3rd pillar.

I suppose the quarter window glass on your chopped car won't have to roll down now that it has canted B-pillars (which look great, btw) but I'd like to have functional quarter windows when finished. I've seen it done both ways but I'm not sure which is going to be easier.

originally, i was going to use the entire 2 dr roof from the parts car but when i went to cut the quarters off the parts car.the roof was alot worse looking than i had remebered,it had heavy surface rust and dents all over it,
so i decided to just use my roof along with the quaterwindow drip rail area from the 2dr(so i have an upper window channel and correct shaped drip rail,.)
i cut a couple inches ahead of the B pillar and about 2 1/2" above the drip rail all the way across parrelel to the drip rail.

when i cut the quarter panels out from the 2 dr,i cut them out along with then inner quarters so from the inside of the car it looks like a 2 dr (ie bracing, window reg, etc)
,,however, as far as the quarter windows i'm not that far along yet,but i think i may be able to get the quarter windows to roll down(at least somewhat) i'm sure it will take some figuring

on your 57.,,i know what you are saying about the 3rd pillar,.....
...it may be more work, but probably better off using the 2 dr roof if its a good one..much cleaner in the end.
i think ,might be wrong, but i think that 2 dr & 4 drs in 55-57 have different size windshield & rear glass..

the shinny area over the drip rail is were i made the cut

looks just right to me .... Awsome job I bee watching the frame mods to make this work.... You Da Man

I dont see why they couldnt??? take a look at the rear windows on the 40's ford tudor sedans. they rolled up and then back. dont see why something cound not be retrofit or even regulators put in at an angle theres ways to do it:)

Thanks for the response. I've seen tri-5's done both ways so I wasn't sure. The roof on my donor car is pretty clean so I probably will use it all in one piece. The windshield and rear window glass is the same between the sedans, only the hardtops are different.

So you did have to cut up into the roof skin. I was wondering about that. Seems like it'd be tough to get everything lined up square that way, but it sure looks nice. Can't wait to see it finshed.
