This axle came with a 38 plymouth coupe that was once a drag car, The axle has been cromed long ago but is missing one hub, the king pins are tight and I like the shape of the axle but need to find anouther hub for it. The leaf spring mounts on the car don't really look factory so I'm thinking the axle may not be original. The lug pattern it 5 on 4.5", and the king pin centers are roughly 48.75" at the tops.

It is a '38 Plymouth axle. They had parallel leafs, on top of the tube. Looks bone-stock to me.

  3. I just cut the spring tabs off of one of those.
Actually stripped the whole axle out from under a farm wagon.
The spring perches are on top.
I probably have what you need here because I switched it to ford spindles.
Give me a few hours and ill be able to get you some pics.

Stock axle. My uncle has one under his Henry J he has had since the 60s. It has 65 Mustang disc brakes on it, so he tells me. He Hasn't touched the car since 1968, so they have been on for a while, and they might be an easy retrofit.

Yep...MOPAR. I think they were popular on early G***er Cars. There was one under the '53 Studebaker survivor G***er I sold last year. The swoopy steering arm is a dead give away as well.

I just happen to have a set of drums with hubs from a first gen mustang up in the rafters so I tried it, the bearing ID's are right but the offsets are way off but I'll bet if a guy was determined it could be done, but I'd rather find the right hub. Thanks for the info.

The one that was under the Studebaker. Sorry that is the only photo I had of it.

I Have two hubs but the drums are probably not going to turn.
    Bearings and races look good.

That style axle was used on Plymouths from 1933(except 34)-39 and Dodge in all those years as well. There were two different styles, early and late, there being a slight difference in the bends. All had hydraulic brakes as did all Chrysler products starting in 1924.
