A friend of my wife's moved onto her parents' old farm a few years ago and found this old pickup cab in the weeds. She drug it out of the weeds and stuck it behind the old garage. She said her grandfather bought the pickup new. I am more of a motorcycle guy but it looks mid 30s Ford to me. Unfortunately she said there's no more parts for it, her dad must have scrapped it out years ago. I could probably trade her out of it for some rusty old yard art.... just kind of neat, thought people might like to see it.

1937-1938 Ford, mid 1930s cabs weren't as rounded

  3. I'm no ford expert, but it kinda looks like a truck down the road from my place. The one by me is a '38. If all you had to do was give her some crap for her yard to get that thing, I'd say do it.

1947 and earlier, nicknamed "Jailbar" because of the vertical bar grille. Real popular with the rat rodders! Also shouldn't be too hard to find the rest of the sheet metal to build a whole truck.
OOps! My mistake! That cab has the pivot for a wing-type hood, it is a pre-war model. the post-war trucks had a rear hinged hood.

By the colour it could be an ex Army truck.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the id. 1937 Ford it is. I'll find out if she is willing to trade it off, it might take a while for her to decide as she really has no reason to part with it, but I"ll stay after it.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, what is it that excludes it from being a 1938? Thanks in advance and sorry to hijack the thread.

38 has a different belt line and firewall

  13. Agreed, definitely a '37. Doors and back part of cab are same as '35-'36, but it has the split V windshield like '38 and '39. Definitely not a '38, I own a '38. '37 was last Ford truck to have a butterfly hood. '38 Ford was first truck of any make to have a front opening hood.
