Anyone out in HAMB land that knows anyone with one of these? Seems like they all got crushed, or wrecked in demo derbies....
we had one just like this when I was a kid. we went on a long drive to visit my Aunt and my Mom kept telling my dad something was wrong with the car. eventually a cotter pin came out of something in the front suspension like a ball joint and we ended up on the side of the road and almost drove off a cliff. when I got older and started working on cars my mom must have told me 100 times over the years not to not forget the cotter pins. she is where I got my mechanical ability from. pop couldn't fix anything but a stiff drink. funny that the car is parked in front of the "Mission Ale House". I have never in my life forgot a cotter pin.

The '57-59 Merc wagon hardtops were also available in 2-drs.... My understanding is that replacement windshields for these are nearly impossible to find (along with a lot of other parts) so don't buy one that's missing a bunch of parts...
Believe it or not, I actually saw three '59 Merc Station Wagons at GOODGUYS - Columbus this year. This one had a For Sale sign on it but I didn't get any info. Maybe someone else in HAMB-land did..??
The green one above is a '58. I've got a complete set of the fiberglass woody trim from a '59 Colony Park out of a local junkyard that I'm waiting for the right project to use on. Extremely cool looking cars, but extensive amounts of chrome and stainless that would be incredibly expensive to have redone. Not a cheap car to fix up, but a hell of a looker when they're done right.
Sorry, I guess I got carried away. I knew when I took the picture it was a '58 (and yes, I'm pretty sure the other two were '58's also) Sorry to mislead.
Yeah the 57-59 are all pretty rad! I just seem to like the front end on the 59 the best. And I like the tail lights as well.
Used to be a few around all in the junkyards here, I know one yard I was in I saw a 2-door, but all were rough even then.
I think the best source for scarce cars is the ‘type clubs’......meaning a Ford/Mercury club of some sort. Same thing for other makes. These are usually people who stick together and cars and parts tend to be offered to one another through club publications as a ‘first resort’ before advertising in broad based mediums.....Hemmings is a good broad based advertising outlet that is also favored over hot rod publications, IMO.
