Well, maybe. So we have a ranch in the Texas Hill Country and since I was a kid I have seen this car sitting in the middle of a field about 50 yrds from a farm house. Well, the farm house has since been hauled off and a double wide put in, roads cut through the property and so on but the old girl still sits in the same spot. I have dreamed of asking about it for years, but never did as I thought it woule be too far gone.

After seeing some of the things resurected on the site, and the skills I have learned from building my truck (which isnt done btw) I feel like I may be able to tackle this some day. It lloks to be a 30 Ford Model A sedan, but sits about 100yrds off the road so its hard to get a good pic of it. It has always been out in the open with no trees around, and looks to be complete.

I thought I would get my ducks in a row before I approach the land owners about it, they may take a shot at me for all I know, but hell, what if they give it to me? You never know.

A while back I answered a hamb classifieds ad about a new in box edelbrock carb from a guy who lives pretty close to me, and after driving there after work he opened the box to show me and it was an old quadrajet or some sort in the new box. We had a good laugh, said it was in the trunk of a car he bought and the PO told him it was a new carb, so he didnt even look. Anyway, he gave me a edmunds flathead intake trying to make up for it, and now I am thinking maybe that was that start of a long term project.

So take a look and see what you think from this grainy pic. I will try and get a hold of the people one day soon and see what they say...

Looks like a really good start for a great hotrod ! I would make a good fair offer and don't try to low ball her either . See what the price would be for one in the same condition in your area and go from there . If you have some in the same condition that you can download with a printout that might help as well to secure a deal .
Something to keep in mind , don't go by during lunch or supper time . Maybe after supper time when they are done with their chores and things like that . Never go on Sundays as many go to church . Go dressed in decent cloths . Don't drive up in a hotrod either because they will know what the car will be used for . Some people are funny like that .
Also have cash in hand so if you make a deal you have the cash to give them right away .
Good Luck and let us know how you make out .

Hey hey damn, I live right down the street. What, are we a bunch of weirdo's that require special treatment?:D

Honestly, the "ranch folk" you speak of appear to have kicked the bucket. They literally loaded the ranch house onto a flatbed and tore down all the old barns and pushed it all into a pile. The used to be an old army jeep under one of the barn carports but it is gone. Now there is a new double wide and a couple of newer cars in the yard, and I see fat guys in CAMO tank tops all the time milling about.

My hope is its in the way or they need some cash for yard work, but I fear since everything else is gone it may be some form of yard art....

Good idea with the letter in the mail box...

1930 A...they are planning to restore it someday, and they saw one just like it except it was a Duesenberg convertible and a bit shinier bring 6 million on Barrett Jackson on the TV, so they know what it's worth!
