Can anyone ID the model/spec of the Racemaster tires on my late brother's car? That's an NHRA sticker on the windshield. This is as much of the car that's in the photo. dougs car tires.jpg scan00262_tire.jpg

"Racemaster" was a name used by M&H on their slicks.

Thanks so much, I've been wondering about this for a long time!

  15. RACEMASTER was the M&H used all their tires, their dirt RACEMASTERs had a shoulder on the outside edge of the tire

M&H started building oval track racing tires in 1952!
M&H founder Marv Riffcan took what he learned about compounds from oval track and applied it drag racing.

Great info and pics. Thank you. And, yep, my late brother was a drag racer--top alcohol. Not sure what that white car in my pic is, though. But I am sure it was fast.

I think your brother may have had a 1967 Mercury Cougar.

Big competitor early on was Inglewood Pos-A-Traction. The heavy ribbed buttress around the edge of early slicks was to support the extra width. They recapped passenger car tire carcasses and vulcanized big slabs of soft rubber to achieve the width. And you all knew this stuff so ignore this post.
