Customs ID this convertible

    My wife was sifting through a bin of her late father’s photos and came across a couple of these pictures. Unusual in the fact that NZ mostly had practical cars,let alone a 2dr rag top . Short wheel base ,probably an anemic 4 cylinder English power. First couple of pictures are take on what we call the desert road, a high mountain area. IMG_3968.jpeg IMG_3967.jpeg IMG_3966.jpeg

    Only a tiny percentage were sold in the UK. Most went abroad. Styled to try and appeal to the US market to encourage exports to help pay off our World War 2 debt which we managed to finally settle in 2006.

    Pretty damn sexy for an Austin of that era... kinda has Buick styling cues.

  11. Austin nut here in town has two, if i remember a coupe and a convertible.
