Bought a 60 chevy kingswood with a 283 and cast iron power glide and this came with it. Can you tell me what kind of distributor it is.
It's an old cast iron tach drive distrib. Probably for early sbc corvette. Probably worth a fortune on Ebay.
My Guess Would Be A Chevroelet Truck That Had A Governor On The Engine. The Distributer And Carburetor Worked Together To Conrtol Enginr RPM's
I don't see a place for a tachometer cable. And no vacuum canister hose connection. Definitely delco window adjust.
The delco # is on the shiny metal tag wrapped around the base...visible in pics # 1, 2 and 4. Looks to be a governed dist... The tag will tell the story ! Dave
Alright hambers, heres a hands on description of this distributor..... What we are looking at Is a plastic oil line (Airline?) Going into a tee with a pressure swich (or such) feeding into to distributor. Looks like an oil feed.... The large round part looks like a breather cap cause the bottom side (towards dizzy) Has holes going around it looking just like a mini oil fill / breather. I know if this was a chevy six dizzy, they had a grease cup in that location that you would turn in a few turns every few thousand miles.
I'm thinking truck with a centravac governor. The sender or switch on it is odd but it could be for a truck with a PTO driven accessory that requires a certan RPM.
Truck or industrial engine distributor for sure. Not worth much except to someone who thinks they need a governor on the engine in one if their fleet trucks. You could clean it up and throw it on Ebay but I doubt you would get a bid on it.
It's the same as used on a 62 Chevrolet truck. I found one for sell on EBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350353149373&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
