Is it real or home made from a truck badge?

the actual heater itself should have a name on it somewhere. that is not an original ford heater in that configuration.

    What does it measure?
Would be a pretty small heater if it was a ‘36 hood emblem.
    Looks cool as***** though.

Ford didn't make to many hot water heaters until 1939....Most early Ford heaters were hot air....Most hot water type heaters were a dealer item...

    E63EFE89-5779-4A16-B0C3-55C055CD788B.jpeg Here’s a ‘36 pu emblem. Roughly 4-1/4 tall x 5-1/2 wide.

Was in a rush to get to work, so more on a reply…your emblem looks like polished aluminum, I didn’t get up close earlier, can tomorrow, but think the PU ones are die cast pot metal, really don’t know for sure. I’ve seen some chromed before though.

Some repops may be made of pot metal?

Originals don’t seem to be. Appear to be more like a stamping. Mine have most of their chrome but are pretty worn. No pits on them.

  20. Ford didn't offer a Ford-branded hot water heater until '39, and even the '39 and later Ford-authorized heaters were dealer-installed options (as most optional equipment was up through at least '48). There were dozens of brands of aftermarket accessory heaters sold through auto parts stores, garages, and mail-order places like Sears and Montgomery-Ward. I found a Hot Wave brand, really nice art deco style housing, that I put in the '38 Ford pickup. I am guessing that the heater you have is an Arvin, which was a popular and common brand, and it looks a lot like Arvin heaters I've seen. Most people who bought a new car back then bought one of the aftermarket brand heaters instead of buying one from the Ford dealer. Harrison is part of GM and makes all the radiators, heat, and AC components for US built GM cars, so there are lots of heaters out there with the names of varioius GM makes on them, and then they built the same heaters with the Harrison brand and sold them through the aftermarket as a universal unit that could be installed on anything. Whoever grafted that Ford V8 emblem onto your heater did a nice job and made it look factory, and I wouldn't hesitate to run it since it looks good, but it's some brand (possibly Arvin) of aftermarket accesssory heater with the Ford V8 emblem grafted on.
