Went to a storage unit auction the other day, they pieced it out as the vanished renter was like 12 grand in debt and this would raise the most money. Lot of crap in there, a few HAMB-related things, a lot of off topic things. I picked up this grille, I'm thinking maybe mid-20s Dodge, and this hood, which is not in bad shape but the tag on it only has a price from some swap meet a zillion years ago. I have both halves but no sides. It's not that long, so I would think it was from something with a V8 engine. Any ideas? I tried to get a pair of roadster or coupe quarters that were pretty ragged and paper thin but some guy tried to steal them, stuck them on his pile without running them past the auctioneer, so when I made sure they went through for bids he gets mad and bids $100 for them. I laughed and let him have them, I think I could carry them to every meet for 100 years and not get that for them, and if you tried to bead blast the rust off they'd look like swiss cheese. I can't complain, I caught them sleeping on a manual trans tilt for some Jeep that should sell for more than I spent on everything I bought. Which also includes an A axle, a 36-37 Mopar grille shell in rough shape, a '37 Chevy hood, a milk crate of crap I haven't even looked through, a couple sets of trailer springs and a set of rounded heavy steel trailer fenders, and some other junk. I could have bought other stuff cheap and it was just so hot I didn't really care.
Glad didn't buy a Buick cowl to try to mate with it. Thanks, guys. So that leaves the hood, probably will take someone who has one to recognize it. The dimensions are 14" at the front, 31" long down the center and 24" or so across the rear. It's pretty flat at the back. Maybe 33-37 or so. Not going to have any power here most of the day while they upgrade the main box to breakers, so no internet, so no looking at car pictures.
I looked at some pictures, dimensions are close to Ford but there's no bead on it. It's really flat at the top rear. So I thought International pickup maybe, the shape is closer to correct, but some of those have a bead on the lower edge too.
Bump for the Sunday crowd. No ideas on that hood? If it's for something with a six, it had to be fairly short front to back. What has a really flat cowl in the center? 33-36 ish.
Looks the hood is also Dodge, for 39-47 truck. Not 100%, would need to measure one, but the shape is right on.
