Found this the other day. Chrome bezel (that has points on both sides) is pitted and gl*** is scratched, but face, hands, numbers and back are in good condition. The white spots seem to be on the inside surface of the gl*** and not on the face(?) Seems to work OK and has the trip meter reset cable. Mileage is even fairly low. Has GM AC markings on the back. With the trip meter and the style, I am thinking late 30s GM prestige car like Buick or Cad, maybe? When did they go to 100MPH speedos? (When was the first Buick Century?) Anyone recognize it? (I'm more familiar with the cheaper 30-40s GM cars).
If it's any help, it's not 37 or 38 Buick, and it's similar to a '40 but '40 has a cream colored center circle and reads to 110. This looks to me like it's for a less expensive car - Olds 6 maybe? There a high beam indicator? Just round or cutout in a special shape? I've seen some shaped like indian heads (Pontiac) or the Chevy bow-tie.
No high beam indicator on this one, but small turn signal indicators are there. Upon closer inspection it looks like the face of the speedo is made out of stainless, and the numbers are made of plastic that is about 1/16" thick.
Looks like a 40s era Buick. Very similar to the one that used to be on my Roadmaster, if I remember correctly. Plus, Buicks had stock turn signals.
