Hi! Do anyone know what steering box this is? It’s sittning on a ford v8 column as it looks. At least the column drop and steering wheel. But looking at different pictures of ford steering boxes I can’t find a match.
    Any ideas?
    Tanks!

The four spoke wheel and long column drop would indicate a truck, the horn*****on looks 36-39. That’s my guess.

how does this compare? The pics are kind of small, and I can't hold your gearbox in the same orientation as the drawing to compare easily

I was going to say truck, judging by the column drop at least.

thank you all! So this would be pre-F1 trucks then. Would it still be a good improvment to a model A ford? Or is it junk?

1934-ford-1-1-2-ton-pickup-std (2).jpg 4 spoke wheel allegedly correct for 32/37 1-1/2 ton trucks. Accoding to this ebay seller eBay item number:225095234043
That pretty well jives with this photo of the the interior of a 34 1-1/2 ton.

That is identical to one that was in a 1941 1.5 ton truck I had, minus the odd horn cap.

Big truck steering boxes are not a good fit for a hot rod. Find a box from a 1/2 ton size pickup. Save the column tube and drop from the big box though, might be handy for a project.

Keep in mind that 1/2 ton pick ups
in the same year will be cross steer, so if staying side steer you probably want to look for an F1 box/column.

I have a 1932 big truck box stashed just in case it’s useful one day. I’ve been told they operate good in light vehicles and it’s complete with the arm.

Your biggest issue would be finding the big truck pitman/steering arm if you don’t have one.

My reply was based off a previous reply. I can not say use that or not to use it (from your first post) just that it was said to look for a 1/2 ton.
    Hope that makes sense.
Ford went back to side steer in pickups in’48.
