Friend bought an old 60s g***er. This is on it. Any ideas what it is and how it is connected?

That is an Enderle Shut Off Valve for mechanical injection

  3. Looks like part of an old school fuel injection system. Maybe even a fuel pump I'm not sure.

A cable operates the lever to open and close the fuel flow. You mount it inline between the Fuel pump and the injector metering valve. When you close it, it shuts off fuel to the injector to shut off the engine. The pump sends the fuel back to the tank instead of too the metering valve and injectors

Hard to tell from the pics...but looks like the round part before the fuel shutoff valve might be a filter. Seen Hilborn filters like that...I'm sure Enderle made something similar...

    Gonzo,

Do you have any more pictures and details that you would be willing to share on that Willys? I'd love to hear the back story on it.

I don't know a lot more about it. Is a local car raced in the 60s and put away in the mid 60s as I understand it.
He is going to keep it pretty much the way it is except clean up and getting it running.
Here are a couple of pictures after it was color sanded & buffed.

It's a 4spd. I'll try to grab some interior pics next time I'm over at his house.

Have a short movie of starting it the first time, but it's too big to upload.

  21. You are right on the Gilly's Willys...it has been around for a long time. It was out, at the G***er Gathering in East St Louis back in 1999, but did not race. An interesting story as told by Gary the owner. He said to go look and feel the under side of the p***enger front fender...it was smooth as silk. Gary said that it was an NOS original fender from a local dealer a long long time ago, and still wrapped in the factory covering. The dealer had no use for it and Gary got it for almost nothing by today's standards. Gary came to several of my Willys picnics the day before Back to the 50's each year, but never brought the Willys. He was also the owner of my original '60's race car (also a 40 coupe), but sold it several years back. Gary p***ed away shortly that, and if the car has now changed hands it was probably sold by his son. Is it still in the Twin City area??? g-willys

Good info. Yes, it is still in the Cities.

  23. Any interior shots? As I recall the seats in Gilly's Willys looked just like the came from the kitchen table.
