Now that is nuts!! If I had a gun next to me the night I was drawing out windows I might of put a bullet hole in it.lol
ditto.. if you find a donor car take the whole roof, and use the ribs full length ,and mimic them on the deck lid!!!!!! pm twochops he may have an extra roof
This would have to be a custom roof. It looks like a Buick set up but it won`t fit right into the car. I Like the idea but it is a lot of work. I would have to use the sides from a curved windshield to make the side gl*** and the chevy pick up gl*** for the center. Trying to get this car out this summer so the 3 piece gl*** is not going to happen.
then how about the stock 52 merc backgl*** sunk down.. or the 53 chevy i chopped i copied the moonglow, rite down to lexan backwindow.. its been years and it still looks good..
Seems like the '94 Chrysler LHS had a back gl*** pretty similar to what you want. Wasnt able to find a picture on the web...
it was about approx 1/8 " lexan is unbreakable so i used the thinner stuff so we could bend it to shape without heating, and distorting. once it was cut to shape and the gasket was put on we roped it in like a regular gl***. then windshield urothane was ****ed in to keep it in place.. you will need a couple sets of hands to hold it in place on the outside while someone ropes it from in the car.. all in all fairly easy.. i think i used masking paper as a template.. heres a few pics i found. it really needs a wrapparound gl*** imho . hope this helps..
Try thinking about that three piece idea using the corners of a late fifties Ford windshield to get that curved outside window from. I know by studying the spare 59 Mercury windshield that I have in the rafters I can see the possibility of a curved section in it that may work , might be a couple of different curved windshields to get the perfect contour, but a quick template in hand and a trip to the bone yard would find a good donor. I know of a local car that a fellow had chopped ( 1957 Chevy) without thinking about the curved back gl*** in time, his gl*** guy used a 1960 Mercury (same as my 59) to cut a nice gl*** that fit the new hole with a great profile to it. Lexan will do in a pinch, but its sort of like fibergl***, why if you don't have to?
I will look into this. That car looks right. Plan is to just fill in the back for now and get the metel the shape i want then figure out a window. Any tech on this kind of gl*** build??
I have a front gl*** from a 56 Ford The shape is close and it can work. I like this idea but I`m thinking it will be a lot of work.
If you broke the gl*** while cutting (good chance) you would be ****ed ! If you wanna try it I have an extra 41-48 ford back window you could have for the shipping cost?
