I made two A frames when I took the body off my 60 Chevy sedan. You would only need one for a cab. They are very handy. Mine were made of 5 landscape timbers. Top one was set on it's side for strength. Gusseted with ply and 1x 4's

I made an A frame too. 2" tubing legs with 8" caster wheels, 6" I beam crossmember, 2 ton chain hoist. All can be unbolted for storage if needed. Works great and I can move about anything including bodies, engine at anytime by myself.

Must be an Oklahoma thing. I did the same thing only in aluminum.

  4. Easy with a crane...

Or without a crane, you jack the body up, lower the frame down (take the wheels off and drop it onto wheel dollies), then just haul it out...

well i got myself some 55 gal barrels. gonna jack the cab up run some 4x4s under the cab, set them on the barrels and tie down the cab so she wont roll when the wind blows or in my case i get 4 feet of snow this winter.

  7. Once the barrels are in position, fill them with water (not to the top).

Last time I did a body off I went over to the local basketball court and offered the 4 biggest guys $20 each to lift off and place the body were I wanted it.
20 minutes later, body off and two months later body on !
Helped one of the kids learn how to do oil changes and taught another how to change plugs, too bad it was a Honda.

its a good start. a small floor jack, some wood blocks and two extra hands got it done. another couple of inches so the wood is all the way off the frame and ill be all set.

yea they are temporary there. they are blocked all ready but even if they did roll any the most it will do is bump the garage, i plan to go a few inches more and make the stand completely from 4x4s and maybe concrete supports. maybe even jack stands if i can get a hold of some.

We have an old bomb sling we got years ago its about 18" wide big triangular rings on each end works perfect (over built because of designed purpose )used with frame for pulling engines. Some bodies need an engine hoist to lift from inside the trunk to keep the body level.

I did my 36 by myself. just take your time and avoid the desire to go under it.
