Ok as you can see below I obviously went the custom route with the car but I am thinking of doing a total revamp on the car. Kinda sick of this look. I want to do something new, not primered, no red steallies with wide whites, I want something that is a blend of custom and gow job. I already have decided that I will be swaping a ford 351m and a c6 (does anyone know of a manual that will mate up to this motor) for the tired 239 yblock that now powers it.

I was thinking of taking the drop blocks out of the rear to give it a slight rake(still not sure on that idea though), wheels I was thinking black stealies with poor man spiders or astro supremes. I want to put cheater slicks on the rear for sure. I want to have a little fun with it from time to time.
I want to keep the visor (maybe drill it out).

As for paint, my theme on the car is going to be the Head Hunter, So I want it to be a dark almost black looking green with bright green flames. A head hunter guy on the back with apropriat tiki touches. Intior I am thinking green fur. Not sure who clean that will stay though.

I am looking for Ideas. I also want to know my car would look like with a radical chop. Anyone have pics of one of these chopped or some one with some photo shop skills maybe can help me out. Like always just looking for Ideas I may not come up with on my own. Everyone on this board always seems to have some cool ideas.

    Hear are the pics

Everybody has their own idea what the want in a car, but as far as I'm concerned I would remove the visor - gives it "tougher" look without it.

Yeah I get alot of mixed comments on the visor. I also am up in the air on the visor. If I chop the car the visor will definately come off though.

Yep, they are mean lookin' with a rake.

BTW, anyone know the status of this car? The last time I saw a post, It looked pretty cleaned up and there was alot of mechanical progress made.

I did this for Wes on her a while a go.

As you can see its mostly some cleaning up and a paintjob. Olds taillights. Frenched inn headlights, cleaned up stock grillebar, Lancer-caps, lakespipes (not dummies.. [IMG] ), dual spotlights, a nice TnR interior.. Would work fine with bags and Astros as well I think (but then minus spots and lakepipes).

I would lose the visor as well.

Damn there are a lot of cool ideas floating around. I knew there were some cool 54s kicking around.

I think I will get rid of the visor and chop it. I still like the idea of racking it.

    Thanks for all the input.

If you put cheater slicks on it, especially in MA, you'll be able to drive it about three days each year. [IMG]

I would vote for dark paint, bu keep it simple. If you think you are sick of its current look, imagine how fast you will tire of tiki junk. Take the high road and do it in classic style.

I like the color I'm seeing on my computer, but I don't know if it's accurate do I...
I think you should lower the rear some more and lower th rear bumper to the bottom of the body in the side view and loose the visor and that's it unless you chop it.

If you chop it it should be enough to move the roof forward enough to loose the 1/4 window on the back door.

I really don't care for "theme" graphic paint jobs on anything other than NHRA Funny Cars.
That's why I like the paint that's on it now, it's classy.

buy my drop spindles out of the classifieds,,,,slam the shit out of it ,,,put wide wites ...lose the visor ..sell it i got 450 for mine that came with my ford......they are worth bux...as they are not as common as chevs.......dont chop it its too much work on a 4-dr ..its a really clean car maybe just panel with a darker color over the light blue/green .....that thing would be rad....nice car man.......

  21. Lose the Y-Block? Good God man! Hang onto it. Way cooler sounding than a 351.

If you want to go the Hot Rod route here are my thoughts:

    1. Speed parts
    2. Just a little rake
    3. Dark green w/ a lighter green bass boat flake top & mild scallops
    4. Chromed steelies w/ out moon caps
    5. Wide white cheater slicks
    6. Lose the visor

Lots of potential here for a very cool late 50's/early 60's type of look. Not too many people doing this style, so you wouldn't blend in w/ all of the other red wheeled wonders.

The reason I have considered tossing the yblock is becuase it is not the most reliable engine I have ever run. Plus it is lacking in the power dept. I also have a 1961 401ci nailhead, but I wanted to save that for a rod project.

Anyone have much sucess with running one of the early 239 Yblocks. I want the car to have some balls. I like to drive my cars hard. I am more of a go fast guy than a cruiser.

I am definately thinking of going with a flaked flame or scallop job, and I definately want to go with a 60's style theme. Just want to do something radibonzical. If you know what I mean [IMG]

Here is my project, the pics are 5 months old, still trying to get new images up. I have since put disc brakes, new front end, 3 inch drop all the way around, new floor pans, painted firewall.

Metalshapes just dropped off my 351w.. transmission to come soon.
