Technical Identify steering box

not the best pictures i know, but anyone have a n idea what this box might be? Customer wants to replace it. Id like to know what it is before removing it and having a dead car waiting for parts..

Yes, Corvair. And based on the welch plug on the ribbed end of box, reversed.

Before you order up a replacement, dig into original, quality replacement and offshore copies.
The cheap solution is probably not what you want.

 

Just don’t corner yourself with a replacement.
