  2. Well, if it's Olds, maybe through some miracle there's still a tag on the A-post? That would make an ID easy.

Really, you're just asking us to identify the dead body aren't you? You'd need a team of forensic scientists to do that - even Grisham would struggle with this baby.

The heater box is probably the best identifying feature.

Would the shoe not have to be a traditional PF Flyer?

Even with the addition of the circles and labels I still cannot figure out what I am looking at!!

I was too busy getting the bejeezus stung out of me about 20 seconds after this photo was taken as I was crawling over it to get better access.

Thank you to Texas Speed for the diagram.

Thank you guys for all the efforts! For the guys suggesting military, the green we see in the photo is a fine velvety layer of moss.

So is it me or does it seem this thing is right hand drive? Look at orientation of the pedals.
But then I see the heater and get alittle confused so maybe not. But still something isn't right. The heater should help give it away as well. I have no idea.

The center floorboard almost looks removeable, but maybe not. For you guys trying to orient this visually, it's a cowl that looks to be flat on the ground. That may be part of the main floor behind the trans tunnel. The pic is taken from the p*** side looking at the wheel/column. The gauge panel is very plain-jane. There looks to be an interior hood release at the left of the IP. The heater could be after market. That's all I got...

The olds is not it, the only things that are similar are the general shape of the dash cluster and the park brake handle. Look at the steering wheel, column drop, etc, they are quite different. The dash on the mystery car is flat, not curved.

    It is a good puzzle

  17. That is a COE truck, Federal used pedals like that. Others probably did also. No idea what it really is.

Yeah, but as a 40's Pontiac owner [and the dash is definetely NOT a Pontiac] those GM handles were all alike...musta used the same handle for a few years on the entire GM line is my guess.
I agree the column and wheel are not Olds-ish...not a clue as to what it is.

    ^Yes, same shoe-

Falcon George, you know, as I was racing away from the scene with hornets in my shorts and shirt and in my shoes, it occured to me that it was an omen for the Hornet... whether they were telling me to steer clear of those particular pedals or to go for them, I don't know.
Before I took this pic I had removed a Nash Rambler Custom dash that I would like to use on my roadster. It wasn't until I was putting it in the car that I noticed the telltale rings on the bottom of where one m***ive hornet's nest had been at one time. Another omen?

Thanks for all the guesses, guys. It is a good puzzle! I hadn't considered a COE. I see parking brake handles that look like that for GM and Mopar and even some Fords, unfortunately.

Maybe a reach, but I was looking through some cars of the 40's books my son has......this is about the closest thing I could find......1946 Chrysler. It's a ****py pic, sorry, but look at the swoop thing under the center of dash. Plus the pedals look like they are attached at the bottom, similar to the ones in the rusty pic. I ignore the heater, that was a luxury then, so it could have been added later.

I hadn't planned on making the trek out there (about a mile from the nearest road) until it has cooled off enough for those hornets to get slow and sleepy.

Unless someone has a Eureka moment between now and then, I will drag this thread up and post more pics later in the fall. I feel I have to now, just because it has proven so difficult to identify.

Heck, if I get to feeling restless, I might go up there and temp fate again just because curiosity may have killed the cat but satisfaction brought him back.

Again guys, thanks for playing GUESS THAT CAR! Tune in next time for more pics.
