For those of you who have been following my blower build thread, you probably have seen me comment that we have been in business since 47'. Well, we just went through some old family photos and this is the oldest one i could find and i was hoping you guys help me identify this car. The white building to the right is where our company, Phillips Patterns & Castings, started back in 1947 making patterns out of my grandfathers chicken coupe. Im trying to figure out what year this could have been taken and i figured this forum could be a better place to ask about the car. I was told he had a 48' studebaker at some point.

You can check out some more photos if you want on the blower thread Post #257

Studebaker taillights are up and down not horizontal.

    the car: Looks like a 40s chevy to me, too. But I can't tell if it's a 41, 42, 46, 47, or 48. If someone knows it's a 47, I won't argue.

Not sure I agree with that 47 Chevy 2-door assessment... The lines where the roof meets the trunk don't seem quite right to me. The rear bumper guards and tail lights almost make me want to say Plymouth (or MOPAR) but I couldn't say for sure what year or model. I could be wrong, perhaps you're right!

  7. I was thinking the tail lights looked MoPar but like you I could be wrong.

The big one for me was the bumper guards. Wish I had a better angle on those tails though. Thinking business coupe? By the trunk lines?

OK, I agree with that. I can totally see it. The fenders weren't quite right on the bottom rear to be any of the MOPARs I was thinking it could be.

I believe it's a 1941 Hudson, Series 12 (6 cyl) or 14 (8 cyl), 2 Door Touring Sedan. Very similar to the '40 and '41/'48 GM 'A' bodies, but not the same.

The rear fender shape (fully rounded back of fender) and taillight shape matches the Hudson exactly.
