The I-beam axle in my coupe, which is an older hot rod, is not shaped like any of today's aftermarket axles (CE, SoCal, Super Bell, Magnum, etc), yet it is definitely a dropped axle.
This axle has 2" bosses at the spring perch, it is about 36 1/2" between spring perch holes, and from kingpin to kingpin it measures about 49". In cross-section the center of the axle has thin, sharp leading edges at the top and bottom. Judging by its appearance and dimensions, what can you tell about the history of this axle?

without going out the shop and measuring some of mine..I'd say it looks like a 33-36 axle.

That was my thought. The way it tapers into the perch hole looks like either model A or 33-36. I think Model a's are more pronounced at the perch boss so I'm throwing my guess with HomemadeHardtop57.. A dropped 33-36..

gotta agree with the boys on this one. Looks like a stock 33-36 dropped.
