I found this edmund's intake buried under a pile of junk in my dad's ba*****t. He has no idea when he got it or where it came from Judging by how deep it was in the pile I'd say he's had it for at least 30 years. Anyways, anyone have any idea what it goes on? Definitely not prewar Super 8 Packard, or large post war Packard. Also not Auburn straight 8. Stamped on the back is "EP82 E0814 SF". It is water cooled. The ports are 1 3/8 " diameter. They are spaced 8 inches on center. Thanks!

Well Packard would make sense cause my dad had owned a ton of Packards, but when I measured it against his 53 straight 8 this afternoon it did not look right. Maybe I need to measure again. The catalog lists two manifolds for Packard 1755 & 1751 - I didn't think Packard had two different blocks in the early 50s ???

    Thanks!

My stock 1953 Packard intake is 8 3/8 center to center and 1 7/16 ports. If yours matches this, would you sell? Shoot me a price...

I checked yesterday and that manifold is probably for a 320 inch buick. The 248 & 263 engines have ports on 7 1/2 inch centers. It looks just like a couple I have see for the large buick.

This is funny ! I just sold a Great, Super clean Edmunds Custom Intake. Damn Nice, at BACK TO THE FIFTIES TODAY! A dead ringer of Your's.

I thought it was a 248 Buick, I showed the photo's to a vendor he told me it could be Packard but he didn't think so.

He thought it was Pontiac. Either I came up short or did OK on the sale.

    OOOOPS'S RETRACTION ! RETRACTION !

I just looked at my photo's I have of it. Not a dead ringer. 3 Studs per carb, the hole is in the last runner near the top away from the flange.

Since it's gone I can't read any #'s I guess it's Sunstroke, walking the swap!

No. It looks like the one marked Packard in the ad, but it is too small for the post-war Packard my dad has. The Packard guys are telling me that all the manifords are the same, regardless of engine size (which is what I thought originally) on the post war cars. The ports are 8 inches apart on center, and if you read through the thread, it doesn't look like it will work on Buick either.

One thing I'm going to investigate further is if the pre-war Packard 120 is a smaller block.

    regards, A.J.

    Not Buick 320...
    Port centers are 8 3/8 - 8 5/8 - 8 3/8
    OAL is 28 1/4
    Port diameter is 1 1/2

    Maybe Mopar?

I just measured a Pontiac - 8" port spacing, 27'' OAL, same flanges ... 1951 Edmunds catalog showed them in both 3 & 4 bolt carb variety.

Are the ports 1 3/8 " diameter? If so perhaps we have a winner? Does the catalog picture for Pontiac look anything like this manifold?

    thanks, A.J.

  26. Damn, I didn't even know that anyone made Packard straight 8 speed parts. Now I have to have one... Off to hunt for hen's teeth.

Yes - 1 3/8" port size ... the catalog has drawings instead of photos. My 4 bolt version looks identical to yours.

There were speed parts for almost every engine you can think of. As far as Packard goes, my dad has been running a edmunds dual intake & edmunds high compression head on his pre-war super-8 for as many years as I can remember. He has a 3/4 cam for it but never had the gonads to put it in. I'll take a picture and post it here.

I just measured my 53 Pontiac 268 and the overall length is correct and so is the the centering for the ports. Want to sell it?
