I was given a new company car in 75. A Vega.
It was a GREAT car. I never had any problems with it.

I drove a Vega that belonged to a friend when they were a new car and was impressed. A long time Chevy owner could buy one and feel at home. The one I drove was quiet, smooth riding and had decent performance for a small, economy car.

The aluminum blocks proved reliable in Mercedes and Porsche. The Vega suffered from lack of development and GM's habit of cheaping out on everything. The seventies were definitely a low period, even the previously Chev V8 suffered from premature camshaft and head wear and general short life because they turned it into a hunk of **** to save a few pennies.
