Try more like a '54 to '56. Someone smarter than me will nail down the year. '58s have dual headlights and chrome fins...

Looks like a 4DR post, but is it mofified any? or is all the chrome just painted over? What about those headlight bezels? I guy on another site I go to bought it and he is in Europe, he needs some help identifying it for registration. Go over to Classicoldsmobile.com if you wish to comment directly to him. It is not as near as big as this place.

From the back guards and the placement of the park lights at the front I'm guessing its a 55 Olds 98 4 door with some kustom touches (headlights seem a bit frenched), hard to tell from the pic, would be nice to see the hood and grill.

take a pic of the rear - I think its a '55 98 too. You can tell by the trunk - the 98 model has a much longer trunk. From the pic above I'd say its got the long trunk.

The '55 88 had sqaure cut rear arches like a 55 chevy, but the 98 got the rolled ones we see on this car, although I have seen pics of '55 88s with rolled arches - I think these were called super 88s or something, pretty rare anyways.

98s tended to have alot of electric stuff in them - windows, seat, aerial etc, so that might help.

ok my olds is a 55 98 but now i want know if the identification number(on the paper) is a number of a 55 olds or a 58 olds...

i'm sure some people who works on uscar equipement shop can know that....

tomorow i go to search the mine number for be sure my old is a 55

but the problem is about the number.... because if my number is a number about a 58 olds i can't past my olds in collection car...why?

because in france men who work to the registration office ask me 2 photo about my car in order to compare whith the year indic by the identification number....

that's for why if the number give a 55 olds i take picture of my car

and if it's a 58 number i take picture about an olds which it drive by my friend and which is a 58 olds

after it's ok for me because in france police don't know the difference of 55 and 58 olds ;)

i just want drive my olds on an open road....and not only acceleration trip

I would say that the solution to your problem would be to tell them it IS a '58 but it has been customized (which it truly is so you aren't lying) so it doesn't LOOK like what they expect to see (a '58). Problem solved.

Satanherself; I like oldsmobiles and drive oldmobiles but don't know everything about oldsmobiles (wish I did).

It's for sure a '54 or '55 and for sure NOT a '56 or newer. Trust the ol "Car Spotter's Guide"
If you see chrome holes you'll know for sure if it's a '54 or '55.

I realize this post was really quite some time ago, but was it ever determined what year this vehicle is?

I’d love to see additional photos. I don’t know why none of us asked for additional photos. I believe someone asked for a photo of rear, I’d love to see photos of the VIN, and every side of the car...although it does look like a 1955.
