I frequent another site and the owner doesn't know for sure what this is, I think it is a '58 98 but not sure. Gosh I hope I did the picture right....
Try more like a '54 to '56. Someone smarter than me will nail down the year. '58s have dual headlights and chrome fins...
DOH! of course, what was I saying, couldn't be a '58 (note to self, drink more coffee before posting on the web).
55 olds--------------TwoChops ---------------------------------------------------------- if it's stock rear wheel opening its a 56 if the skirts are welded in its a 55 --they are not 54 and 55 had same openings but different skirts show us better photo. ------------------------------------------------------------ blown up photo looks shows a skirt line making it it a 55 also headlight doors are not frenched
Looks like a 4DR post, but is it mofified any? or is all the chrome just painted over? What about those headlight bezels? I guy on another site I go to bought it and he is in Europe, he needs some help identifying it for registration. Go over to Classicoldsmobile.com if you wish to comment directly to him. It is not as near as big as this place.
From the back guards and the placement of the park lights at the front I'm guessing its a 55 Olds 98 4 door with some kustom touches (headlights seem a bit frenched), hard to tell from the pic, would be nice to see the hood and grill.
This is a link to a '55. This car has either been highly smoothed or it's a 56. http://www.seriouswheels.com/1950-1959/1955-Oldsmobile-98-4-Door-FA.htm
hello i'me new and i'm the olds drivers which is in photo up in first scuse my english because i'me french so that my story: i've baught this olds but after some searh in internet 2 problems appear.... in first on the paper of the olds the type is 94.... (after some question on the oldsmobile forum(thank for all) the response is TYPE 94 never exist) ok it's just an error about the registration organism after an other problem appear.... on the paper I can read the first date of the car is 1958 ..... and i remenber all us car dated to 58 avec 4 headlight.... that's for why i search if someone can say me if the VIN number is the number of an 55 or an 58 olds but none can say me.... if someone can help me for confirm me if my paper comporte a lot of error or just if i've bad paper..... thank's for all i do a lot of other photo to my car and my friend US car...
an other post for the differents part(number) of my car an sorry but i've 3 problem on paper look down identification number : CA589M08432 first date of circulation : 30-06-1958 i don't know how can i say that... whell to whell distance (empatement in french) 323 cm and a other comic's details sit place : 8 (it's not a minivan ...)
thank's i promit you i do a good presentation of our work after i've resolve my paper problem we have some differerent car for exemple a 55 bel air (prepare for the french drag) my olds (lokks a 55 bur 58 on paper) a chevy van in paint work a skylark buick (it's sleeping for the moment in wait a good resto) a camaro (but i'dont remeneber the year) see you later and i hope someone can help me...
Well, you call yourself Satan her self, shouldn't we be asking you about how Richard Nixon is doing down there? ;-)
take a pic of the rear - I think its a '55 98 too. You can tell by the trunk - the 98 model has a much longer trunk. From the pic above I'd say its got the long trunk. The '55 88 had sqaure cut rear arches like a 55 chevy, but the 98 got the rolled ones we see on this car, although I have seen pics of '55 88s with rolled arches - I think these were called super 88s or something, pretty rare anyways. 98s tended to have alot of electric stuff in them - windows, seat, aerial etc, so that might help.
I'm still with Droplord its a 55/98, will take a look at the vin versue mine tonight if I remember.....
ok my olds is a 55 98 but now i want know if the identification number(on the paper) is a number of a 55 olds or a 58 olds... i'm sure some people who works on uscar equipement shop can know that.... tomorow i go to search the mine number for be sure my old is a 55 but the problem is about the number.... because if my number is a number about a 58 olds i can't past my olds in collection car...why? because in france men who work to the registration office ask me 2 photo about my car in order to compare whith the year indic by the identification number.... that's for why if the number give a 55 olds i take picture of my car and if it's a 58 number i take picture about an olds which it drive by my friend and which is a 58 olds after it's ok for me because in france police don't know the difference of 55 and 58 olds i just want drive my olds on an open road....and not only acceleration trip
I would say that the solution to your problem would be to tell them it IS a '58 but it has been customized (which it truly is so you aren't lying) so it doesn't LOOK like what they expect to see (a '58). Problem solved. Satanherself; I like oldsmobiles and drive oldmobiles but don't know everything about oldsmobiles (wish I did).
It's for sure a '54 or '55 and for sure NOT a '56 or newer. Trust the ol "Car Spotter's Guide" If you see chrome holes you'll know for sure if it's a '54 or '55.
I realize this post was really quite some time ago, but was it ever determined what year this vehicle is? I’d love to see additional photos. I don’t know why none of us asked for additional photos. I believe someone asked for a photo of rear, I’d love to see photos of the VIN, and every side of the car...although it does look like a 1955.
Looks like the rear skirts are filled in leaving the opening that was in the stock skirt..if true good luck changing a tire..
