The person selling them does not seem to know how to measure hole pattern so I'm trying to figure it out. They do know this: 1933 1934 1935 1936 Chevrolet 17 Inch Wheel Any ideas on bolt pattern? Thanks, Motor
NOT Chevy , MOPAR or AMC off breed like a Nash -measure from the center of one hole, skip one hole to the next, OS edge of that one- either 4" or 4.5" is mopar
They're called artillery wheels (don't know why, just what I've heard them called). Most I've seen are MOPAR and therefore 5x4.5, but I think Chevy and Ford made them as well, Chevy would have 6 hole. I'm not sure what you have there, if I had to guess, I'd say MOPAR. They probably measured the pattern wrong and came up with 5x4.75 instead of 5x4.5. Its not a 30's Chevy though.
Looks like a Chevy 5 by 4 3/4" bolt pattern. Yes Chevy used 5 lug wheels in the 30;s Edited for a mistake in the bolt circle.
huh, I've never seen 5 lug wheels on an original chevy from the 30s. They were 6 lug thru 48 on cars, 70 on trucks.
Thanks for the input everyone! The person I'm buying them from needs to confirm hole pattern before I buy all four. If I could see them in person I could measure them but unfortunately they are in Cali. I don't think I want them if they are 5 on 4.25" Motor
on 31-7 Chevy's they did not use 4 3/4 5 hole on anything, all were 6 hole ,here is my 36 in the classifieds , 6 hole artillery wheels, they are correct for 1935 -6 Chevy's, but a lot of them got put on cars that came w wire or disc wheels originally, the aftermarket picked up on em as well.
it would have to be 4 3/4 or 5" but I can find nothing in my parts book that lists a 5 hole wheel ,they would HAVE to be a VERY rare wheel, never seen one in all my Chevy years, What model desiganation is yours ? here is the parts book list
There is a 35 Chevy setting less than a mile from me with the original wheels on it. They are 5 lug artillery wheels. It's not the only one I have seen.
I am on the phone w my chevy Guru ,MN guys probably know him G simpson , he says that there were indeed 5 hole 35-6 Chevy's then, rare, but there were on standard models, mines a master deluxe, well... shut my pie hole ,ya CAN learn sumpin new oncet in a wile , Intersting to note in that Chevy wheel list , it lists WIRE wheels as correct for 35-6 models , HMMMMMM, I know where 6 hole set of 5 is sitting
Interesting...if so, then all the 33-36 standard Chevy cars were 5 lug, since they used the same hubs, according to the Chevy 1946 parts book. I don't think I've ever seen one of those models all original, I've seen 32 and 37 std models that were 6 lug.
well sort of he said that only SOME of the standards had em , more goverened by buyers choice and running gear ordered than anything he said, but was not specific, OH for the days when I could buy what i WANTED from Chebby.
The parts book says the CC, DC, EC, and FC models, in other words the standard model cars from 33-36, all use the same hub, and they do not use the hubs that other models use. So my guess is that if one of these is 5 lug then they all are.
My '36 REO's wheels are very simular to those. They are 5x4 1/4" bolt pattern, odd ball as hell!!!!!!!
They look like Pontiac wheels. Pontiac and Chevy did not use the same bolt pattern and I agree, it has to be post '48...
