1952-59 Ford Identifying 8BA Radiator Caps.

    For cars like my '53 there were different radiator caps for the six-cylinder and eight-cylinder radiators. The shop manual says that the eight-cylinder cap's spring-loaded lower seal extended 1/4" farther than that of the six-cylinder.

    However, the text doesn't reveal what the two different lengths are, only the 1/4" difference.


    I'd like to know the two lengths or at least the correct length for the eight-cylinder cap.

    Please measure by placing the cap upside down on a table and measuring to the point farthest from the table... or any other way you think would make the best sense.

    Rich I will measure mine tomorow, it came with the car so I am pretty sure it is correct I will let you know as soon as I can.

    Rich I measured this morning, 1 3/8" to top of center br*** while laying on table. A second measurement is 1 1/8 to very outer edge of where rubber seal fits on sealing part of cap.Hope this helps.
