I was looking for a new project on craigslist, and came across a 26 T on a 32 ford frame. How does one tell if it is a real 32 ford frame? He is asking $4500, is it worth buying for the frame? He has owned it for 40 years, and looks like a good project.

    OEM 32 frames are stamped 18-001 to 18-203,126. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_serialnumbers.htm
From 1932 through 1948 vehicles, Ford Motor Company stamped the serial number into the top of the driver's side frame rail in three locations. ... Of the frame-stamped serial numbers, only the forward-most stamping was visible when looking down into the engine compartment (located between the front crossmember and the dash (firewall). The two other frame locations are visible only when the body is removed from the frame. The serial numbers were metal stamped with numbers/letters approximately 1/4" in height....The number (including the prefixes shown) was always preceded by (and followed by) a stamped "star" similar to an asterisk...

Probably has the frame pinched too, which is fine unless you plan to put a '32 body on it.

  5. If it has been on the deuce frame for 40 years then it is likely a ford frame no one was repoping deuce rails 40 years ago. D

    A '26 on a deuce ch***is is damned cool for 4500.

Looks original. If it was near me, I'd make an offer and it would be on its way to my garage. It's in the ballpark of price on parts alone.

Looks like a 29 on 32 rails that have not been pinched, that's the way it was done years ago . I think it's a buy. Frank

If this is the photo it is definitely a original Deuce frame. HRP

  9. You need to add to this the four cylinder vehicles that were numbered *AB-5000001* through *AB-5062386* and *B-5062387* through *B-5178212* (approx, may been as high as *B-5178484*). The * represents a 5 pointed star used to positively identify the start and finish of the number. This is most of them but still not covered are the RHD numbers, foreign numbers and heavy commercial numbers. (Source "The 1932 Ford Book"). If the numbers you find are outside of these ranges post them (using **X for the last 3 digits) because there may still be more to the story. Be sure the numbers match the paperwork.

  10. From the picture it looks more like a '28-'29 Model A than a Model T.

For all you Model A "experts". It is a '26 coupe, note the bead around the doors. Now these are the same doors as a '29 pickup, but you can see the quarter panel. I looked this up on CL and it's a cool project, definately worth picking up and a good deal.

Thanks, I thought it was a real frame, because of the rivets. I am working on getting it.

  13. What did the number on the frame turn out to be (use **X or the last 3 digits)? What does the registration say (the paperwork is clean isn't it?)?
