Factory gauges, factory lights, after market gauges.

Now you need another for oil pressure, and another for fuel level! ;)

Same thing with me, I can get OCD about it. That's why I like idiot lights.

On the stock cars, we ran lights in addition to the water and oil gauges. In a race condition on a short track, it was impossible to scan the gauges unless you had a caution.

Another thing we did was to orient the gauge faces so the normal range would be at the 12 o'clock position, if it was off the bubble, it was easy to see at a glance.

I tow an enclosed 6' x 12' trailer to swap meets. Looking for a nice vintage camping trailer to pull behind it.

Yep, its starting to get a little crowded there. The light is kind of obnoxious looking but the tach hides it from the passenger so only I can see it till it comes on then it lights up the whole inside of the car. I need a good reminder anyway.

I hooked it up to an oil pressure switch and a water temp switch. It will come on if either one closes.

All kidding aside. I have found as I get older 68 I don't notice the gauges like I used to. Set the cruise and hold on the car runs at the set speed all you do is aim it.

Its been my experience that nothing is completely idiot proof, as there is always an even better idiot in the making.

My old MGB had an automatic shutoff. When the center core plug blew out, the coolant drowned the distributor cap, and the engine shut down. Now that had to be a better idea by the Brits.

Sounds like my freind STEVE KELLY. Built him a Class 1 buggy and demanded gauges for everything that way he could stop in time before the engine would blow up. We were about 100 miles into the Parker race when we get a radio call that he was broke down in a wash, We get there and asked him what the gauges read before it blew, He said they were at zero for a few miles, So why didnt you stop we asked, he said and I quote " I thought that all the gauges were broken". From that point on every new gauge is broken from the factory and we went back to lights and horns.
