I can’t bag on the younger crowd. My oldest daughter makes me smile. She’s “tricked out” her car (incredibly OT for the HAMB) but you know what she’s doing? Just like I did when younger. Buy what you can afford (I did help with the down payment lol) and do what you want with it.
I the 70’s and ‘’80’s we could buy 30 year old cars for “easy “ money compared to what the same would cost now. So what’s the 20-30 year old crowd do now? They buy 30 year old cars and have fun.
Sounds familiar, but not HAMB friendly;)

I was at a local show at an outdoor museum a few weeks ago and there were way more young families and young people there at the car show, museum buildings/ antique farm demonstrations then older people. Maybe some older people need to get out and pay attention instead of complaining on the internet about young people.

Every day I drive my old cars a kid waves or is excited to see them.

    My
My observation/experience has been at the old car swap meets I attend the definite majority are the gray beards like myself.
However, at the 4X4 swap meet there are more of the younger crowd..leads me to believe, not all young people are holed up in their rooms on their computers.
The younger crowd, understandably can't relate to these old cars like we do, but can relate to Broncos, Jeeps, Toyota FJ's, and Square Body 4X4's.
New release on a '32 would be dog.

    Hello,

The only way a 32 could be made over again is to come out with a cool looking station wagon or in these modern days, a larger SUV. We have all seen ones like the black FBI SUV, Drug runners, corporate heads and the little blonde soccer mom, down the street. But, it would have to be something attractive. The 32 grille would be hard to p*** the coefficient of drag rules imposed on modern designs of cars.

As far as the 32 grille is concerned, the modern cars grilles have grown to larger proportions, almost matching the size of the original 32. (If not a 32, perhaps a 46 Ford style?) Of course, it would have to be lower and fit the confines of the front end, including fenders. BMW, Audi, Lexus grilles have all grown oversize and have been incorporated into the modern car design world.

Utility vans like the 1940 Ford Panel Truck, a 40 Ford Panel Truck turned into a all window station wagon or new/old SUV might do the trick.
    upload_2022-8-29_6-6-40.png
Or even a modified Nomad Station Wagon from an old Corvette style would meet those changing needs and design parameters. There are car manufacturers that are bringing back lowered station wagon versions of their coupes/sedans for the USA market… So, there is that… YRMV

Interesting, how things are so different area to area, the interest in old cars is alive and well here.

When we were teenagers we spent all our spare time working on hopping up our cars. Today's youth spend it starring at their cell phones.

Again, In my area there are lots out in the garage building stuff, not all our style of cars but certainly not holed up on their phones…

All my daughters friends have my number and call or text with questions about stuff they are working on all the time.

No one wants a stock 32 Ford. Look at all the trouble we go to, to hot rod them.....and then, very few "normal" people would buy/drive a hot rodded 32 Ford. Most of them that do exist, spend almost all their life in the garage.

We're better off ignoring what's going on in the real world, and just play with our old stuff as much as we can.

You can get everything you need to build a 32 Ford anyway you want.Car companies are looking for high profit vehicles so I can’t see them doing this, plus it would look horrible once some designer added their touch. Was in Michigan for a week earlier this month and seen 4 completely different ones of those SSR’s randomly on the road, I see one locally all the time, was never a fan of those.

Didn’t Bob Drake, and then Dennis Carpenter try something like this, to some extent, with no success.

The projects failed because not enough customers were willing to pay the price of a new body. Add a frame, suspension, running gear, interior, and electrics and the cost would be outrageous,

That doesn’t take into consideration the expense and complexity of design and content changes to meet emissions and safety standards.

You can’t go back to 1932, except maybe in your dreams.

There's probubly more 32 Fords registered in the USA than Henery
    Built in 1932.

Most young people do not care, but occasionally they do. I was pulling out of my neighborhood and two teens on bicycles stopped to watch me pull out. So of course I obliged them by winding it up to 5 grand in low and shifted as quickly and gently you can an early Ford transmission and let those 1.75" straight pipes cackle. I could see their smiles in the rear view mirror.

I would like to hijack this thread a wee bit. I don't know how to put something from Youtube on here but I found a '40 Ford coupe concept car built by #invisionprototypes that really looks good. Granted,it isn't a '32, but it does capture the flavor of an old car.

Here in Wisconsin we have pretty good numbers in the "Old School " cars with youngsters involved, building cars minus the high buck items, chrome/paint/upholstery. SYMCO had a big turn out, Northern RoundUp is growing every year, reminds me of my youth, making the most out of what you could afford, enjoying what you have. I enjoy these shows, the people involved and are great IMO with getting their children involved. I have stated in the past here, Hot Rod hobby is changing, it will change and evolve as it always has, as a side note, I'll be dead and gone, Will guys be building/ cruising electric hot rods ?, somehow I think not. HAMB cars/Rules are guidelines, not cast in concrete anywhere, just here on this site followed to the letter by a small percentage of our great car hobby. Everyone, Have a Great Day !

Just buy a brookville body and ***le it when the year hits 32... done.

If Ford actually made something it would be electronic junk and made out of "military grade aluminum" Dont forget probably a turbocharged 4 cylinder sound with electric motor with a flaming hamsters wheel in the back.

    Me either!

My pickup is a 99, wife's Expy is a 05, but they are simply drivers. I haven't bought anything new since 1986, and will probably never do so again. Only reason I have anything that new is to keep something that the wife can drive without worry of breaking down. I'm happiest driving my old 47 Lincoln, I get waves and smiles all the time. If I could pull it off, it and maybe a 40-56 Ford pickup would be all I owned. I'm a simple man, who likes simple machines...

  24. I think it would be cool. I don’t own a PT, or Prowler or HHR or SSR, but I can understand it, most of those cars are more interesting than what ever else was produced that year. My vote is for a full fendered sedan delivery. If it got 100 mpg, so much the better.

I totally resemble that remark. It has been my personal mission statement since I retired, just ask my wife.
The world doesn't really need a modernized '32 from Ford, Boyd and others did that to excess in the '80s and '90s and we all know how most HAMBers felt about that.

I think your confusing interest with intent. Many are interested enough to have a look with no intent on every doing such a thing. Like taking up sky diving for a hobby.

With all due respect, that is the one thing I've read today, that remind me I need to complain about something. See, we are paying attention. And our complaints, you can be most ***ured that over all, they are justified.

There is largely no such thing as a high-profit vehicle.

    The overall average is 7.5%.

As has been my mentioned, there is no way to have that body shape comply, with any level of redesign, with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).

    It simply cannot be done.

Oh, there are some high profit vehicles....think $100k Cadillac version of a $50k Chevy suv.

But yeah, there's no way for Ford to make a legal 1932 Ford today.

No automaker can survive selling statistical outliers alone.

    Hence the average.
