It's missing, so no chance of rebuilding. It's pathetic that even with so much demand, it's so hard to find a well built engine crane. People are always flag waving, telling us to buy US made, but when you want one, they're no where to be found.

    Hi again FritzTownFord,
I don't know where you stand right now, on a Shop Crane purchase, but noticed last night, Harber Freight ad in the October 2009 issue of Rod and Custom Magazine. They have a coupon for the 1 ton shop crane for $99.99 and a coupon for 20%. They say only one coupon per purchase though. Like I said earlier, best to inspect before purchase. Could always resell, if this might get you through your project. Anyway, I thought I'd mention it... Have a great day!...duane

Are you sure that stuff's made in the USA?

The jacks look EXACTLY like the ones at HF and the about link doesn't work. I don't see any verbiage on the site indicating they make the stuff here.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but it looks like at least some of their products are the same made in China stuff everyone else is selling.

iv never had a problem with my HF foldable eninge crane, iv had to do over 25 swaps with it by now, and it stays outside all year round. just give the screw that u turn to lower the crane a few squirts of PB blaster every once in a while and its fine.

FTF, please take a close look at the HF picker. They are not great to start with but what's worse is the quality varies a lot between individual units. When a tool is already at the lower end of the scale, that can be dangerous. A used cheap import that's 10 years old will probably be a stouter tool to hang 600+ pounds from. My Cherry picker probably isn't USA made as all the labels were missing when I got it at a garage sale for $100. It's foldable, sturdy enough to lift and move big iron V8s with iron auto ******s. The lift cylinder and pump are both rebuildable (not welded together). The casters are robust with bearings in the wheels. C/L and auctions really are your freinds with such tools.

I'd rather do without than go to HF. Swap meets, craigslist, yard sales, there's some good deals out there. Unfortunately it takes time.
