For the rest of my life? I'm just not that monogamous when it comes to cars. My interest will change again, for sure.

For now, the '49 Tin Woody, '57 Chevy and '41 Plymouth keep me happy but I'm working on the '49 Buick. Who knows what's next?

  11. If you could pick only three vehicles to have. That is the question. Well, I’d start with my father’s ‘59 Dodge Coronet, also my uncles ‘35 Hudson-Terraplane and last but certainly not least my F-100.

I’d keep my 57 Chevy PU, have a ‘57 Chevy car, then the most expensive vehicle around, some Ferrari or whatever, so when I pass the kids can sell it and retire.
    Free cars, right?

A difficult choice when it’s only 3. I will defer to nostalgia in this situation so my picks are based on fond ‘rememberies’ (not a real word but one I like to use):

1946 Ford Coupe (first car I worked on with my older brother - who then let me drive it - and eventually gave to me).

1954 Chevy Bel Air (first car I bought with my own money $25.00...no reverse).

1951 F1 - the one I have now. I drive it, then I drive it some more.

Well it's hard to choose only 3.
    Here goes it
1 My 61 Corvair Monza with turbo power
    2 55 T bird (FE and 4spd)
    3 62 Corvette (340 ph 4spd)
And I have to give an honorable mention to a 62 dual quad 409 4spd biscayne.

    To upgrade this storyline:

One: A 1965 Chevelle, 2 door, station wagon with 15 inch 5 spoke, original, American mags or slightly tinted 5 spoke wheels, or Halibrand slot wheels, and A/C ...

    Hello,

My wife and I appreciated being left alone from the extended family most of the time. holiday gatherings were the standard for everyone and we tagged along. But, could not wait to leave and go on our own way.

One of the ways we found out that was perfect for us was to attend a shortened version of a family gathering and then be off on our own. We traveled in the El Camino and the 327 powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery almost everywhere we could. It was a part of being together that was the most important thing for us.

But, something was always nagging us as we cruised on those long road trips, overnight desert forays and our vacations in Baja, Mexico.

    Jnaki

The memory of both of us sleeping in the back of the El Camino on a puffy air mattress and two old sleeping bags zipped together was one heck of a sight. As we were in Baja Mexico and as we all know, the moisture/mist comes in at night and covers everything with a layer “wet.” So, as we fell asleep, it was dry.

But, when we woke up early in the morning, we both, including the old sleeping bags, were covered with moisture. Not only was it just mist or moisture, but the old cotton sleeping bag was soaked as if someone poured water on us late at night. If one of us was not covered up and exposed to the night air, our hair was wet as if there was a downpour during our dreamtime.

Luckily, there were layers inside and we were dry, but we could actually wring out water from the outside surface. We still had tons of fun and for the next several nights, we got a room at a resort hotel.

    Note:

Ever since, we saw the value of the reliable red 65 El Camino for all of our road trips up and down the Westcoast of California and our three trips into Baja Mexico, it was time for a station wagon. So, we could sleep anywhere and not be awakened with a downpour of salt air moisture in the middle of the night. 125K worth of road miles had plenty of action and explorations for both of us.

After several small station wagons, we have always looked for a custom station wagon for our last cruising days. Recently, I got the wild idea of a small powerful station wagon that would accommodate our small two car garage. The smallish, custom Nova Station Wagon would be perfect for camping out if we still could go to our favorite So Cal and inner California campsites.

We thought a 1965 Chevelle two door station wagon would do the new adventures quite well. But, did not realize our final house with a small two car garage left almost zero room for two normal size small station wagons, not full size station wagons.

So, now a new idea and probably our last go around with new/old station wagons is this idea drawn a month or so ago.
1963 Chevy NOVA Nomad Station Wagon
upload_2024-2-14_5-14-25.png still room for two and our “stuff.”
But, across the small two car garage may be a similar powerful red El Camino that would take us back a few years and still fit in the secure parking space, next to the small station wagon. Two for the price of one long standing set of memories, just sitting in the small garage… “If only…”

A small powerful, Nova El Camino with road height/heavy load adjusting suspension for all of our household needs that would or could not fit in the small station wagon...

Happy Valentine’s Day… No chocolate or mini Bundt cakes, but a great idea for our likes and future road trips as long as it lasts... YRMV
