    Hi,

is there anything i need to know before changing from a coil with a external resistor to a coil with a built in resistor?

also is it as simple as just throwing away the secondary wire from the resistor and placing the other wire straight to the positive?

    thank you

I've done it both ways, a lot both ways, and IMO the external w/ coil is the most dependable. Have a tractor (?) that I used the internal on, time and again it just flat failed. I think I went through 4 or 5 coils, always under warranty (whew!). Went to the external and its still on and going strong after 3 seasons (Texas tractors work hard, tons of heat, dirt, etc.) Found the same on a car, did not fail as frequently though. Just my opinion.

I've used Bosch blue coils on 12v changeovers for decades. I have never seen an OLD Bosch fail.
