I have a '67 Plymouth Fury with a 318 engine and the original point ignition system. I have found lately that getting decent contact point replacements is becoming more difficult and the don't seem to last like before. I have been considering a Pertonix upgrade and have heard only good feedback on these set-ups. I know that a resistor is not necessary in this application but how do you bypass it to supply a full 12 volts to the distributor. I appreciate any comments on this subject.. Thanks.

I've converted MOPARS in the past by just going to post-1972 distributors and related bits. Diagrams are online and in the old factory performance books (these still use a resistor) and there really isn't anything hard about the stock parts approach. The parts are proven bulletproof, but the main thing I like is that parts are still readily found in normal stores in case anything actually does fail. I like to know that if it breaks, it is available in the corner NAPA in Flyspeck, Mississippi.
I've done them with all stock parts from junkyard, with an MSD box made to fit the Plymouth box plug, and with new replacement parts. Used parts are cheap and this stuff is VERY durable.
