I know this isn;t the right place to ask questions about '81 Camaros, but I don't know where else to go!

We installed a new ignition switch in a 1981 Camaro Z-28, but when you shut the car off, the switch doesn't come back far enough to line up with the lock, so they key won't come out....How do you fix that?

That's why I only work on cars that have the ignition switch in the dash!!!

check the rod it may be bent or adjust the swith upward and see if thats enough, the switch should be slotted on mounting holes

I had the same problem other day on 48chevy with GM collumn.Don't know why but I turned the outside of the collumn next to the dash and it worked fine, maybe that will give you a hint at something to look at.
