Hot Rods Ignition wire ohm rating

    MGAJIM

    What would be the ohm rating for carbon core refi suppression ignition wire? Accel suggests 500 ohm per ft but I measure about 3.5K. Opinions? Thanks!

    Well...you can do what I just did!
    Search the brand that you want other than Accel and see what their website says that they offer..!

    One brand I just looked at (the internet is your friend) says that their cheaper wiring is 350 ohms per ft. Their good stuff is 40 ohms per ft.

    So it looks like...you pick.
    Between the higher and lower ohm ratings, you'll never realize the difference. The plugs will fire well enough for their intended use.
    Unless maybe you have an MDS 7 series ignition box hooked up to a 10,000 rpm engine. In that case, I'd bet you already know the different wire companies and their different offerings.

    When I worked in Automotive repair, I was taught that 1000 ohms per foot was the maximum acceptable amount.

    Ohm's law is firmly seated in voltage. To apply 'resistance' is futile...
