  1. I am one but that is not what the current vernacular supports.

The current usage of the term implies a hotted up import. Think Fast and Furious.

You must be a lot older than I am, I have been around racing all my life and overbore was calculated into the equation when you were determining cl***. Hell some of the guys even painted displacement on the outside of their car. I have seen more than one 331 powered g***er in my time.

I guess along with rhetorical questions we should add ignorant responses.

    the best I liked is" if I punch my 350 pontiac . 30 thou it should be a 355 ??" nope a 350 pontiac is actually a 354 stock , 3.8750 bore x 3.750 stroke , .030 will make it a 360

I have an ignorant question about GMC superchargers. You know: 4-71; 6-71; 8-71. What is the significance of these numbers?

  11. A 4-71 blower came originally on a 4 cylinder 71 cubes per cylinder diesel engine. Figure the rest the same way.

Number of cylinders plus displacement per cylinder. Possible number of cylinders: 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, and 16. Possible displacements: 53, 71, 92, 110, and 149. And yes, I am aware of 1 and 24 cylinder, but since I have never seen an example of either, I am not sure they really exist.

Where I first heard the reference to the bore and the cu. in. was from the circle racers that had more dreams than abilities. It sounded as pointless then as it does now.
Your reference to ignorance for me is a complement. Usually people just say I am stupid. I don't need to be older than you, just in a different environment.

8 cylinders are as big ( blower) as they get in blowers after that they double them up , a 12 cyl will use 2 6 cylinder units , ( v16-92 is as big as a on /off road detroit gets ) the 110 is a inline 6 and hard to find , Gets unless its a 149 series then its v-20 which is a primemover or stationary motor , I worked on them in tug boats 2500 hp and ussually quad turbo'd )
but no production 24 cylinders ( the 24 was a prototype never made into production if it did it would use 4 6cyls or 3- 8's , ( I would lean towards 4 6 cyls ) , smallest I have seen is a 2-53 and it was on a generator ( army power unit ) have heard of a 1-71 but never seen one it was made for marine use .

the 12 -16 series blowers used on TF/FC are hybrid units and are not detroit cases or sizes, but are rated on the 71 series size in output

  21. So you don't think that you need to know the bore diameter to know the cubic inch displacement? Or you don't think that displacement is important? I guess I don't follow you at all.

Sure, but if that diesel is .30 over.........

They say that two positives can't make a negative. Yeah, right.

When I state in conversation that I have a 355 Chevy, I think it is pointless. It is still a "350" Chevy. Nothing complicated here.

If it is my motor, I need to know the bore or overbore. I shouldn't feel the need to tell you as though it has any real factor in life. It borders on "the small **** syndrome".

When I first responded to this thread, I questioned if I should. I am still not a believer that it needs the posts that it is getting.

Porkn******, is now the time for the picture of beating the dead horse?

This is like the Donald Trump 7/11 thing. I doubt he thought it was .30, more likely a typo like I did...

  28. Well I prefer the bunny with a pancake on its head but I am good with the dead horse too. :D

Or it could have started as a large journal 327. Now there is a dumb question albeit it not rhetorical, what is a 327 with a 3.48" stroke called?

The question becomes how much do you bore the blower? if you punch the block .30 then would you bore the blower 1.20 to compensate and who makes the best forged rotors or will cast rotors work OK.? :D
