Hot Rods Illinois Title Issues

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by eisenhower34, Apr 24, 2010.

  1. ...seems things are much better in Illinois now, haven't heard any horror stories pertaining to old car title issues lately.
...sent 2 titles in for transfer last year, no hassles and good Illinois titles back to me in less than 4 weeks.

The "new deal" is the State's concern with vehicles from a five State area that have suffered 'natural disasters'.......floods, tornadoes etc. ANY vehicles from those States coming into Illinois, whether private party or dealer transfer, must have an affidavit from the Transferor attesting to either the extent of damage or a disclaimer as to never having any such damage.

This has resulted in a huge backlog of title and registration issues. I expect it will improve as the word gets around the affidavit is needed and it is included with the initial application rather than by notification letter after the application is submitted.

In my case, my local DMV office told about it, gave me a form to send to the PO, signed, notarized, returned, all by snail mail..took it to the DMV and they told me my app had just been flagged the day before. Meaning, it had layed in a pile somewhere, the notice not yet mailed to me. It seems not to matter to politicians and bureaucrats that we already have a labyrinth of inspections and branded titles to accomplish the same thing.
