Right. Driving a car that hurts you is SOOO much more fun on a trip. Makes you want to hop back in and drive it some more.
Scott: GMC Bubba's "Real Steel" is a good way to solve the "FIT" issue... We'll be working (At Bubba's )this Sat (tomorrow) on Mikes Buick, for a complete tear down.,,, I don't know who will be there, but The "Real Steel" should be close.. Bill j.
I am 6'4" and I fit in my truck,,ya just gotta learn how to get in and out,,, I raised the column a bit to make room for raising the right leg high enough to stab the brake pedal . I limited the thickness of the seat back cushon and in the future it may be trimed to make it thinner. I removed the gas tank that was under the seat and built a new lower seat riser. It's all about getting as comfortable as possible. This photo was taken the day I started taking the truck apart,,,with the original gas tank under the seat there was no room for me! I drove the truck 423 miles round trip to the Deuce Run to Blowing Rock, North Carolina and back home in one day,,,that's a few hours in a tight fitting 32 pickup. bigken also ain't no little guy,,but his truck is a 33/34 ford,,they have a little more room in the firewall area,,,about 2",,,and that's a lot. I have a '34 and I am 6'4". My cab is chopped 3" (might go 2" more!) I fit just fine! Yeah it's not as comfy as the wifes new Caddy but I can take it for an hour or so!

Hot Rod Primer has an excellent point about the seats rear cushion thickness. Not much is needed. My 32 roadster has less legroom than the 31 on 32 rails project roadster. Due mainly to an overly thick and too-tall back cushion. Even so it's a comfortable car to spend the day in, but it could be improved. And, fwiw, my 6'7" pal drives it ok, but part of that is probably that he's used to fitting himself into tight places. The 31's real comfortable with it's ChryCo soccer mom van middle two passenger seat. Lots of legroom even with a 4" firewall recess and I still have another 2" the seat can go back. If you wanted to go with a roadster pickup, Brookville makes a body that's exended a few inches. As noted, gonna make a difference in fit as to whether you're long legged or long torso.

Thanks also to Gary for the link, that truck looks good. I WILL figure this out I used to drive Ghias when I was younger and fit fine. Just getting older I guess that I want a little bit of comfort.
Nope. I'm 6' and fit ok but I don't know what I'd do with 4" longer legs. It took a lot of fiddling with pedal, seat, and steering column placement. Some things that helped on long cruises (I've put over 85K miles on my truck) are (god forbid) a cruise control and I built a simple console to lean my right leg against. A couple years ago at Bonneville I offered a ride back to the pits to river1, who is 6'6". No matter how he tried he couldn't fit. He rode back sitting sideways, half in and half out, feet on the running board. When I redo my truck it will get extended across the middle of the top and doors.
Here is a photo ( taken by Denise ... Hotrodladycruiser ) at Knoxville 2008 of HRP's 32 pickup with two big guys in it. Danny is about a inch or so taller than I am ... but I weigh a good bit more I was comfortable ... I would love to have a 32 pickup to drive . .
I'm 6' and had a 32 pick-up for many years when I was younger and a lot more flexible. I would not recommend it for some one over 6'.
I'm 6'3" and fit in my 26 T coupe OK with a 5"chop and the engine tucked into the firewall. A little cramped but who gives a rip it's all about lookin cool and haulin ass!
