After anxious waiting, I just-now got the call from my stepdad: my brother James' wife Jen just delivered their first child, a 9 pound, 21-inch long boy!! I'm just blown away, and had to share it with y'all, O/T though it is. Most of my family is down in So Cal, James and Jen found out earlier this month their Lake Arrowhead home escaped fire damage, she had the baby in Upland. Wow... So now my mom's a grandma, I'm an uncle, I'll be weird Uncle Tim, and will get to teach the kid about hot rods (I'm the only car nut in the family). I wish Dad were still around for this, but we get to educate him on who Grandpa was. Anyway, this is such a mind-blowing experience, I can't even imagine what it's like for my younger bro to be a dad!! Wow. Just had to share. Cigars for everyone!!
Cool and congratulations! He just may grow up to be a rodder like his uncle. Things move in mysterious ways...
HOLY SHIT!!! I got the exact same phone call tonight, my sister had an 8 lb 12 oz boy. And, just like you, I'm the only one in the family that will be searching for "hot rod" baby clothes. I wonder if The Boss had anything to do with this coincidence? The only difference is that I probably look more like a monkey than my nephew. Anyone know if SoCal or anyone else has baby Hot Rod t's?
Thanks, Crusin', and ain't it true. Coolest thing is I grew up Under The Influence of some great, individualistic uncles. My favorite ones happened to live way outside So Cal and Calif. We packed in the fun, especially when we knew Mom wouldn't be thrilled. You have to- if you hav no idea how long it'll be before Mom let's you near him again. And I just KNOW that will involve cars with he and I.
He'll probably just rebel from his parents and end up a long haired dope smoker up in Eureka. Call me as soon as you get to town so we can hook up.
congrats man! At a funeral not too long ago I met all kids of family I never met, including My half sister and her daughter--I had no idea I was an uncle! A beautiful baby girl. I was blow away to say the least. Congradualtions bro! -J.
