As in American Graffiti..You old timers Know I'm an AG nut me and Axle used to do trivia on here back in the day.........My son is 8 and I realized he has never seen the Coolest Movie ever made yet....trying to get him off these lame Disney Disco movies they have out now... and watch some real manly movies!!
He's 8? I'm suprised you haven't made him memorize it yet! Hopefully he digs it. Not quite the perpetual motion that kids movies are these days.
Twice, if not three times, my girl and I were cruising my old t-bird down harbor blvd in fullerton, and we hear some one yell out a line from American Graphitti, and it was Axle. Too bad he was cruising a honda though, but a good oppourtunity to ask "what happend to your flathead?"
"I AINT NOBODY.......DORK"! thats right marcus.....no one can get us on A/G trivia! and harpoon is right.....no shit! one night the wife and i i were in her toyota and the other night in my 60 pontiac when i see the rader wheel equipped t-bird of harpoon drive by.....perfect too....cause it was on a friday nights....both times i yelled out A/G shit......most people would say "huh"? come to think of it......i havnt seen the movie in allmost a month........i'm putting it in the vcr now. "LATER.................ALLIGATOR"
Hey I am AG geek #3 behind you guys! My folks started me off when I was 5, I still have vivid memories of going to the NEW theater in the NEWLY MODERN MALL!? A Mall!!!!!??????? Axle, PM me your #, I dont have it any more.
That movie was the BIGGEST non 'personal' hot rod inspiration for me when i was younger. No matter how many times i see it, i love it! Being able to watch it with your son is priceless! One more young'n gonna be christened tonight... Very cool. Tony.
Saw it new, at the THEATER like all movie's are supposed to be viewed. Went with mom and dad inda '63 Impala wagon. "Tied 'em to da car and.......
After you show him A/G play your son these albums Black Flag:Everything went black Ramonesleasant dreams The misfits: Walk among us but for no reason at all should you show or play any GG Allin material.....he will be scarred for life...FOR LIFE!! "Your car's even uglier than I am!" - Carol to Falfa !!VIVA EL AMERICAN GRAFFITI!!
Kool...AG is a good movie. I watched Animal House again the other night. laughed my ass off again Disney Disco movies... that's funny , but true
My buddy in Kentucky showed AG to his 15-year old nephew. Kid's not a car nut or a nostalgia fan, and wasn't too enthused at first. But after the movie was over, he wanted to see it again. Went back home to Florida and now listens to all the oldies tunes he can find. His Mom is glad to get him off rap. And so, another convert. That movie will suck you in and never let you go. I saw it when I was 12 and I've spent the subsequent 27 years trying to live that movie in real life. Dave
Unbelievable, just rented the movie for my son to see tomorrow night without any knowledge of HAMBer's talkin on yet another George Lucas original as producer and writer let alone Francis Ford Copola directing. And what about those parts played by Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson, Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Etc. Wow.... I had just about forgotten about this when while having a burger with my wife and eleven year old son after his basketball game, I thought, what's really going to get him going over the 64 Impala I want his help on??? Sure enough! By the way, here's a little inspiration for the rest of us pulled down off a fellow HAMBer's site. Be sure your speakers are on! http://www.waybackgarage.com/movie/jimmywhitevideo.wmv
Hey, you know a guy around here with a piss yellow deuce coupe--supposed to be hot stuff? Awesome stories guys........ My first time was about 1973/74 the movie had been out for a while i dont remember watching it of course since i was about a year old,I believe at the time my dad was pimpin a 70 continental. What i do remember and have the 8MM movies to prove,is dancing to the AG soundtrack LP in my diapers Christmas Eve 1974....Till this day family member mention that one...since then there was no stopping me..I was a Happy Days kid also...Come on it was the 70's...
Happy Days? Yeahhh!! Awesome for the first season or two. Then it steadily got shittier until it was eventually the most unbearable show on TV. Dave
[ QUOTE ] And what about those parts played by Harrison Ford, Jack Nicholson, Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Etc. [/ QUOTE ] What movie are you watching?
now that would have been a totally different movie wouldnt it...Jack Nicholson as Milner!! hahahaha!! I can almost picture it...
American Graffiti is one of those flicks that you never tire of seeing...over and over. I was born in 1973 but from the time I got my first "Hotwheels"...I think it was a '57 Chev...I became fascinated with the 1950's. Grew up watching Happy Days too. Bedllm and Cadillacin Marcus made Keen observations about the decline of that show. Did ya ever notice that the show was the coolest while Fonz wore the gray windbreaker jacket, then not as cool while he wore the black leather jkt, and then at the end he was wearing a BROWN leather jkt...what gives? How many hoods wore BROWN leather jackets ...hehehe. Anybody ever seen Hollywood Knights? I have the dialogue to that movie memorized...lots of '60's style rides in that movie...waaay cool RPU in there too. I love the drag scene between the Japanese guys in their AC Cobra and the RPU...check it out. Adios, Buzz '54
Hell yeah!! hahaha!! Psycho Boy!!........... Buzz..Yep the early Fonz with the windbraker was the shit..Hey and what ever happened to Richies older brother?? remember him?? The First Arnolds Diner was the shit..and then they burnt it down and got all 70's with it!! ever noitce the hair on some of the guys? Not very 50's and 60's..you can tell that they couldnt get some of therm extras to cut thier hair!hahaha..I notice all this shit now when i watch the re runs..
I remember watchin AG when I was about 4, and as soon as i use to finish watching the movie, hop on my Bike and pretend I was bad ass Falfa With happy days, how come there was never a hot rod featured in it? I remember some kind of yellow tourer or something once, but when they started using that gay theme song, it kinda lost the plot.
Yeah...Ol' Chuck Cunningham [Richie's older bro] kinda vanished. I think Mr. "C" killed his ass and buried him in the detached garage under the DeSoto...hehehe . I guess he wasn't pullin' the grades or got caught smokin' reefer or something. I heard that the producers of Happy Days wanted to cast Henry Winkler as Fonz after seeing him in the movie The Lords of Flatbush. Another great greasy flick to check out is The Wanderers which is set in the early 1960's...kinda revolves around a group of guys and their gang. Anybody else got any good movie suggestions? See y'all down the road. Adios, Buzz '54
4t64rd and I were talking a while back...what if they made a Happy Days movie TODAY??? How would they cast it? My ideas... Fonzie.....................Vin Diesel Mr Cunningham..............George Clooney Mrs Cunningham.............Lauren Hutton Richie.....................Toby McGuire Joanie....................."Jackie" form 'That 70s Show' Al.........................Danny DeVito Potsie.....................Aston Kucher Ralph......................"Eric" from 'That 70s Show'
